Default I have better credit than anyone...*
Okay its like this. I had this credit card with a $200 limit that was charged off back in April of this year at $611. I settled that for $500, and immediately disputed the delinquency of it on my credit report. On 7/30 I got an email from Experian advising me that the investigation of that account was complete. So I ordered a new credit report from Freecreditreport.com and my credit rating has gone up from my previous 521 to... 9002...

I've ordered credit reports on 7/31 and today, still says 9002. When I apply for things, I get an error message that it can't be processed due to technical difficulty. Anyone know how I could maybe fix this? And if anyone needs a picture and wants to sniff it for photoshopping, I can provide that too.

I think experian only goes to 900 or 950. That 9002 is definitely an error.

Last I checked credit ratings stopped at 850...

The FICO credit score range is between 300 and 850. Source

From the article you posted:

Might want to check again because the major 3 credit scorers all have slightly different systems. This is why you have different scores with different companies.

Experian credit ratings range from 0-999 - only reason I know this is because yesterday I just got an updated Credit Report and score from them as I was refused a credit card a few weeks ago for no real reason.
Experian currently rate me at 999, so I guess I need to check with Equifax now to see what they have to say about me.

how would I go about checking my credit rating? I have a single credit card - usually paid in full at the due date - no history of Hire Purchase/store credit, etc.

That's pretty much the only thing anyone cares about in the world of credit ratings. The scores from the 3 bureaus pretty much mean jack. The only one to concern yourself with is your true FICO score.

"Annualcreditreport.com is the only federally mandated and authorized source for obtaining a free credit report," according to wikipedia. I believe with freecreditreport.com you have you still have to sign up for and pay in order to get the 'free' credit reports.

The score from the 3 credit agencies ARE your FICO score, and incidentally the score range is from 150 to 930 on all 3 agencies.
