Has anyone been to one of these races? What was it like? The London race is this weekend and I've been looking at the site and there are still tickets available so I'm considering going.

There is one section where there are A LOT of empty seats, and I'm wondering if that's just because people can't be bothered to walk that far up or because it's a crap view.

Hmm í´ve been to an Air race before as a kid, but these days tbh, i couldn´t see myself sitting there watching planes/cars/people/whatevers flying/driving/running whatever around a track.
Guess that´s why i never watch sports.

Oh man I want to see the London race so bad. I was in London a couple of weeks ago and there were ads all over the underground. I thought about going there this weekend but decided to reconsider next year because my vacation is over now.

I saw the ads for it too. It's just that the Thames River looks really depressing down the Tower Bridge end. Is that where it will be?

What's wrong with the Tower Bridge end of the River Thames? It's very historic. I've done walks from books down that end around the old warehouses and docks. It's very interesting reading about the history of the place whilst walking around.

Anyway the race was a bit further down. It was by O2 (the former Millennium Dome) in North Greenwich.

I ended up not going in the end. I might go next year.

What's wrong with the Tower Bridge end of the River Thames? It's very historic.

The history is interesting, but when you see it in person it just doesn't looks as impressive as the photos. The thing honestly needs a repaint as the old paint is looking dated. Considering I visited it on a pretty overcast day didn't do it any favors though I do remember seeing it with the sun out. I think if the Thames were prettied up a little down that end then it might look better. Seeing it low with it exposing pebbles doesn't make it look exciting.
