Default For once, hooray for EU
http://www.neogaf.com/forum/showthread.php?t=274616

EU council has decided to raise the thresold of imports - For now, if the value of imported item is over 22€, you need to pay taxes from it, however, starting December 1st 2008, the limit will be raised to 150€, so anything under it will be tax free when importing from outside EU (now THIS is the time to enjoy weak dollar )

Is that per item? So when there is an hardware part, let's take Newegg in USA and it's free shipping it would be worth to buy them? [surrender]

This will be great then as long as the dollar stay weak..[thumbup]

AFAIK per shipment, so if the shipment includes more than 1 item in 1 package, then it would be for all the items in the package

Its an improvement, but still not great at the end of the day.

It would be better if it was a bit easier to SAVE the tax at the point of purchase (as you'd be paying tax on import anyway) - but its very hard to do that - so you essentially end up getting taxed twice.

Bet best is still (when are travelling somewhere in person) - to take the labels / boxes off everything you buy, then put it in your suitcases.

While nice, it doesn't really make a massive difference to me. Any US movies I buy are already below the tax threshold and anything else I would want to import would be around $600.
