EU council has decided to raise the thresold of imports - For now, if the value of imported item is over 22€, you need to pay taxes from it, however, starting December 1st 2008, the limit will be raised to 150€, so anything under it will be tax free when importing from outside EU (now THIS is the time to enjoy weak dollar ![]() http://eur-lex.europa.eu/LexUriServ/...01:0002:EN:PDF |

Is that per item? So when there is an hardware part, let's take Newegg in USA and it's free shipping it would be worth to buy them? [surrender] |

Its an improvement, but still not great at the end of the day.
It would be better if it was a bit easier to SAVE the tax at the point of purchase (as you'd be paying tax on import anyway) - but its very hard to do that - so you essentially end up getting taxed twice. Bet best is still (when are travelling somewhere in person) - to take the labels / boxes off everything you buy, then put it in your suitcases. ![]() |
