Hi guys,
Me and my girlfriend moved in together recently, into a new block of flats purpose built for first time buyers/young people, we managed to get a bottom floor, single bedroom apartment. 2 months down the line, some chav **** has moved in directly above us, big groups of chav **** loud mates round all the time, SUPER loud music until ~3-4am alot of the time, heavy drinking, and throwing the cans and other random litter out of their front window and into our garden and public path... not to mention always shouting and fighting. So... what have we done so far? Well i'm not willing to confront them, as in this day and age, with a group of young heavy drinking youths, i dont want to end up with multiple stab wounds... So I gave the building contracters a call, they told me to call the solicitors, who tell me they dont deal with litigation issues, and to either goto a private solicitor or call the maintainence company... well im not taking the legal matters into my own hands, as I cannot afford it, and there is a clause in the contract ALL of the tenants signed, stipulating "NO loud music after 11pm", so we call the maintenance company constantly, who never have anyone on hand to deal with the incidents, and say they will call back... never do. We have called the local police, who say they do not deal with these kind of issues, so we called our local PCSO's, who took a drive past the flat, saw all the litter and a fight going on out the front of the flats, and did sweet FA about it... HELPPPPPPPPPP!!!!!!!! driving us insane, and I dont know enough about this kind of stuff to know my rights in this situation, surely if there is a clause in the contract explaining this, why can it not be dealt with by the company who wrote the contract in a manner which doesnt involve me? Hope you guys can help me, and sorry for the long post![help] |

Wow thats quite a bad situation you are in. I myself live in an apartment complex. seeing how you are in UK Im sure things are different.
Here ppl usually call the police and they handle those kind of calls. ppl here also contact the leasing office and they send a warning letter to the tenants causing the disturbance. Im not a legal buff or anything but maybe you should look into the city's ordinances to see what can be done about all that. There has to be some kind of "disturbing the peace" ordinance that may help you. I cant believe the cops wont get involved....here ya cant even shout out loud for 2 minutes b4 the cops show up to give u a ticket for it |

go out find the biggest Knife you can find.
stab the fookers up and leave the Scene looking like a gang related Knife attack. Its not like its not a common occurrence these days is it what with knives being Integral to the chav culture problem solved. failing that contact the local council and tell them they are creating a nuisance and you missus is concerned for her well being. Is it just me or are the police picking on soft targets for convictions these days and leaving the aerseholes to run rife |

search "noise pollution areayoulivein" on google and you should find some telephone numbers, its illegal to play loud music after 11pm though so i dont see why the police wont get involved.
its not like your allowed to throw litter in the streets either so i dont see why the police are beeing such pussys about it |

Normally it's the local council who deal with issues like this, backed up by the police and/or the courts as necessary. Have a look on your council's website to see their procedures and for other advice. They might lend you recording equipment so you can prove how loud the music is. You could also take pictures/videos yourself of things like litter and damage. Make sure they are time stamped. One thing you should do is keep a diary of what's happening with times and dates to help prove that this is an ongoing situation and not a one off.
On my council's website it says to approach the noise makers yourself in the first instance and ask them to tone it down. Not sure how much help or otherwise this would be in your situation though. http://www.northshropshiredc.gov.uk/static/page248.htm Best of luck! |

If there is a specific clause in the contract, then the building owners are compelled to act, so keep up the pressure on them. If they refuse, then report them to the police. Keep calling the police until something happens. Thats what I'd do.
In this day and age, facing the chavs directly is the last thing I'd do [no] |

Hi guys, The government have shifted alot of stuff round in recent years so it is nolonger enforced by police. You will find that the only traffic offenses they deal with now are those involving moving vehicles, they do no parking issues what-so-ever. A lot of this stuff is now the responsibility of the council too. Don't worry tho there is plenty enough on the statute books to sort the chavs out. GL Edit: This is the advice i received from my dad (Police officer) when i had some problems with some neighbours in my terrace. |

thats why this country is full of chavs its run by pussys who got bullied at school and cant stand up for themselfs |

lol like that police chief who phoned the polce because some teenage lads were sitting on his wall, he ended up moving houses because of it. the police have lost interest in serving the public they are too buisy demanding pay rises and pension plans, and getting money for the governments coffers by prosecuting drivers more than proper criminals and they cant deal with the chavs because they don't know how to or don't want to. how can the police expect the public to trust them and feel safe when they do shite like that. I fooken hate the police[cursing] but I never used to[no] |

yea i agree the police are quickly turning into a goverment tool to make money, it apears as if they are more bothered about collecting fines than making people feel comfortable and safe in there own homes.
i despise labour the amount of ways to collect money from its citizens must have doubled atleast since they came into power and they are suposed to be for the working class? they seem to treat EU workers in this country with more respect than they do us |

Dealing with the noise in this particular case is not the job of the police as it stands it is not a criminal matter. People in here also read too many papers and take their word for it. Oh and the police forces don't make the legislation. I shall repeat again. The police are not interested in this case because at the moment right or wrong it is not their job anymore
![]() Currently some forces in the midlands have now stuck two fingers up to having officers make arrests based on targets. Staffs, West Mids, Surrey and Leicestershire. At the moment the government have them recording all offenses no matter how small in nature rather than looking at matters which actually have meaning to the public. Also if you believe they spend most of their time prosecuting drivers you need to take a look at the bigger picture, or you are miffed because you have recently been caught speeding. Edit: Oh and their pensions are perfectly in-line with all other public sector work, infact they don't match up to civil service pension schemes. |
