Default Any software to stop DVD drive acess light?
Although handy for lighting up the room enough so I don't trip over my tea, the friggin LED light on my LG BD/HD DVD drive flashes so brightly it's distracting when watching movies.

I've only got white electrical tape here to cover it and it looks **** tbh, I don't want to go poking the light in with a pin or anything to damage the drive as it's pretty new.

I'm pretty sure that LED is firmware/hardware controled, so there's nothing you can install on your OS to alter it.

Covering it up is probably your best/only option.

Edit: Just cut out some tape so that it's exactly the same size/shape as the LED and stick it on there. You can even colour it in if so desired.

heh, it is a little on the bright side, though about the same as my now dead Sony DVD drive so doesnt bother me much. I stuck blu tack on something else that had a stupidly bright LED, worked like a charm!

Thats what I do with my speakers light when I leave them on as alarm clock. [thumbup] Works perfectly and it easily removed with no damage done.

I would just take off the faceplate of the dvd drive, and disable the led light. Electric tape on the inside of the faceplate would work well too.

Could you get a black marker pen and colour it in?

I blu-tac'd it in the end (along with half a dozen other little LEDs around the room that were eye catching)

Thanks again for the suggestions guys.

How about using nail varnish, black or a colour to suit your drive?

use permanent black marker. if you dont like it, it easily wipes off with nail varnish
