why does the goverment always pay stupid money for these damn logos!

they could have a competition at some art departments at universitys and give out like £100 to the winnder and get a better logo than all the ones they pay thousands for.

willing to bet that money followed the standard route:

£14k paid out, half for the logo (knocked together over a boozy lunch) and the other half given 'under the radar' back to those making the decisions.

free easy money for all involved! nobody will find out!

It's the new logo for a department in the UK Treasury; the Office of Governmental Commerce (cost them just £14k too). Although to get the complete brilliance of the logo, you need to rotate it by 90 degrees.
