Default A New Addition To My Collection (Cigar Related)
I was at my favorite local cigar bar, and I finally had the chance to try a cigar everyone was ranting and raving about last year. At $20 a stick, the Padron Serie 1926 No. 9 was not a cheap choice, but cigar aficionado as well as other publications named it the best Cigar of 2007 (even beating Cuban variations such as the Partagas Serie D. No. 4). Upon taking my first puff, I noticed how absolutely smooth the draw was, and I marveled at the slightly creamy yet delicate aroma. This really was the cigar of the ages, so I simply had to plunk $400 down and buy a box!

Padron only distributes a small amount of these per year, so I was lucky to find this vintage series since many places (even online retailers) are sold out. Has anyone had the opportunity to try these?

Very nice, although $20 a cigar is too rich even for me. I don't smoke as much as I used to, but I still have a few RASS and Fuente Hemingways sitting in my humidor.

Great! I love Fuente. I have a bad habit of handing out cigars to my friends before hanging out, but I don't think I'll be handing out too many of these

I don't know why people rave about Padron. Good cigars but probably not as good as people make them out to be, which is just my opinion I guess. Now, I'll admit that I've never smoked a 1926 but I have smoked 1964s and then just the regular x-thousand series and I always thought they were all wildly overrated. I've always found them to be
lacking in dimension and depth, with thin and dry smoke. Just an average above average smoke. Honestly, I feel the same way about Fuente too, which I think is wildly overpriced and simply not all it's cracked up to be for that much money.

In my books, comparing anything by Padron to a Partagas Serie D #4 is a pretty substantial claim. Does it pan out?

P.S. Send me a PM.

Those things are making my mouth water!

I smoke pretty often myself, but can't remember names. Have to have them in front of me to know if I have had them and like them or not. Mostly go by looks and smell.
Wish I had some money for this as it would quickly become my hobby.

Although I haven't had too many Padron cigars myself, I do praise their specific 'smoothness' they've got to them. IMO anything of their caliber is always going to be delicious. Expensive sedan of cigars. =)

But then I'm used to Julieta Churchhills and Punch after-dinners.

Honestly the Padron 1926 no. 9 was a very pleasant surprise. It's one of my favorite Robustos so far. I still am not decided whether or not I like it better than the Partagas Serie D no. 4, but it's damn close. [yes]
