Default Woohoo, new computer desk!
Its not fancy, its downright basic, however its MUCH better than the previous computer desk. We recently moved locations at work, and much of the old furniture was left behind when they bought new stuff for the new building. So I took one of the old desks, I think I might take another 5ft section to complete it on the left side.

Monitor: Acer AL2216W 22" widescreen.

old desk:

New desk:

The systems pictured are:

Powermac G4
1.42ghz x2
2gb ddr
Radeon 9000
80gb x2
Leopard 10.5

Dell OEM box from fleabay
2.66 P4-d
2gb
Radeon 8500 64mb
80gb HD
250gb external firewire x2
dual boots ubuntu 7.10 (primary), Win XP Pro (secondary)

Macbook Pro 15" (work laptop)
2.6ghz c2d
2gb
160gb
Leopard 10.5 + XP Pro in Parallels

Not pictured: 2tb fileserver for network

Granted, both systems are aged, I don't game much, and don't run Vista, Compiz provides all the eye candy I could want and the R8500 is surprisingly quick at rendering the effects, though I picked up a Radeon 2600xt 512mb for $60 and I'm just waiting for it to ship. The Powermac G4 is blazing fast considerings only a dual 1.42ghz setup. It can play 720p without hardware acceleration just fine, but 1080p is out of the question. I really have the mac cause I got it from work for free and I honestly like OS X.

Which is why my LInux looks almost identical to OS X

Yeah, now i need to pick up some drawers to put files/folders/crap into. You haven't seen the RC table right next to it which has all of the crap that was in the old desk. The RC table also has all of my RC crap on it too, Engines, shock oil, rebuild parts, cars/etc.

I think its a HUGE improvement in terms of looks, but also in usable space. With some shelving on the walls I can realy clean up my aparmtent.

I also have old junk computers that I need to donate, 1ghz tbird/R8500 system, 750mhz duron/Gf2 GTS 64mb, and old CRT monitors.

That is a pretty sweet setup that you have there!

Where are your surge protectors!? Is the whole house protected at the braker? Those little power strips you got there don't do jack.

They do well enough for what I do with the computers. There is a huge surge protector for the apt complex, it only services 6 apartments so it'll suffice.

The powerstrips are rated at 2000 joules each. Plenty for a personal pc.

I would have figured those to be just power strips. I know that they sell them for super cheap, but aren't actual surge protectors. Surge protectors that I know of that are any decent are nice fatty ones. I have had a few things ruined on those slim jims.

The newer one is about $20 for the current model, mine is the previous discontinued model compared to this one. http://www.cdw.com/shop/products/def...spx?EDC=291101

The other one is several years old but was rated at 2000 then.

Don't have to be fatty big protectors any more. Several slim protectors out now.

nice !

But iŽd suggest investing in some cable tunnels !
Makes the room look "cleaner"

(cable tunnels = cheap german-english translation)
What i mean is something like this.

No need, can't see the wires unless you stand far back anyways.
