The majority of Audi's purchased over here are Quattro's (4wd), which version are you using for comparison? As for size, well if your going off the B6 or B7 models possibly it is smaller than the Volvo but it didnt seem it side by side to the V50 when I looked, but it certainly is not smaller than a BMW hatchback, I've come from a 3-series and its much bigger inside. The new B8 model is the biggest outof them all beating the Mercedes C-class, the BMW 3-series and the Volvo V50, so I dont know where you've got your stats from there For all models I was comparing 2007's, and 2008's and I was getting all my stats from Consumer Reports. All which are American, and as far as I know, are the same vehicles. Not sure if you guys over their in Europe get some special treated vehicle or not. Even doing a quick check, their numbers are right. Volvo is slightly smaller, by a hair, with slightly more interior space then the BMW. Audi seems to be slightly larger, by a hair, but has less interior space then the BMW. Maybe the BMW just feels bigger on the inside but isn't? The numbers do come very close, but with Volvo basically winning in interior space. More leg room, more head room, more cargo room. I didn't look at the numbers for hip room, so maybe the Volvo is a little more narrow and offers less hip room so would account for it possibly feeling smaller? Weight difference though seems to be more like 250lbs to 300lbs instead of the 400lbs, but that is still a lot of weight. Now, I ride in a 335xi extremely often and hate it. I love the hardware aspect. iDrive, the Twin-Turbo 3.0L Inline-6, AWD, fast, but the interior has to go. Also, I am 6ft. and the back is extremely uncomfortable with no leg room at all. I still have to sit sideways or with my legs spread open to fit. It is like BMW made the back seats look nice, but forgot people sit back there. The front seats are better, but only because I get massive leg room. Now I have ridden in a S60 and was extremely comfortable in there, and by the looks of it, the V50 is a little bit smaller but seems to out do the S60 in interior space other then front leg room. The V50 has more head room front and back, and also has more rear leg room. So it looks like I would enjoy the V50 even more then I did the S60. |

Audi A4 Avant 2.0T quattro
We've always considered the A4 one of the most well-appointed and fun-to-drive cars in its price class. And, with the all-wheel-drive versatility of the quattro wagon, this car is about as winterproof as you can get. Two new direct-injection gasoline engines are available, offering either 200 or 255 hp. The engines are hooked up to six speeds, whether you choose the manual or automatic. The A4 is a blast to drive and treats its passengers to the most luxurious interior in this class. What's more, pricewise it's a steal relative to the competition. If you're in the market for entry-luxury transportation, the A4 should be on your short list. Edmund's Most Wanted Wagon I personally drive a 2003 Audi A4 1.8T quattro and the car is more than capable in terms of performance while maintaining an upscale, quality interior. People can say it is heavy and lacks power because of the turbocharged 4 cylinder, but it certainly holds it's own when I take it to autocross events on a monthly basis with it's lowend torque and great fuel economy for a daily driver. As far as an upscale Volkswagen? Just because it is under the Volkswagen Group does not mean it is a Volkswagen. Say the same comment to a Bentley, Bugatti, or Lamborghini owner and see what they say. [rofl] |
