Pretty handy!

I'll be grabbing one of these though, because I would rather have a sata interface than usb - http://www.maplin.co.uk/module.aspx?...18031&doy=13m4

Seems just like an open ended enclosure, don't really see why people think it's great. I'd rather just deal with 2 small screws and use a proper enclosure...

Ya that's what i plumped for in the end, just a basic cheap enclosure with both usb2 & eSata connectors. Gotta admit i do see the advantages of using the docking bay especially if you work in a shop and deal with a lot of drives and need ultra quick plug 'n' play so to speak.

Because if you have 100 hard drives... using a proper enclosure is a pain in the arse!

I deal with alot of external hard drives & to have something like this, not only saves time, but saves money too (the cost of an enclosure for each hdd).

Could you make it any clearer that you've never been a technician?

If you're a technicians you might as well remove the casing from a external HDD casing (usb) and connect the cables to the HDD (takes about 3secs instead of 2 and saves you €€)

Why have a bodge job when for £10 more you can have something that's designed to do the job you want?

Doing it your way, voids the warranty of the external hdd casing & will be a much weaker solution, so will break much quicker. Costing more money in the long run because you'll have to buy more of them.
