Default Help me pick a sound system for my home theater
Ok, first of all I know absolutly nothing about sound systems so any help is appreciated.

right now I am just looking at getting 2 front floor standing speakers (preferably some kind of wood grain finish) a receiver and possibly a sub woofer. I will add the surround sound later down the road as I get the money.

Currently the Polk audio Monitor 70 series is what I am considering for my fronts. They are $299 a piece through crutchfield. Really they are more than what I want to spend but I am looking for the best bang for the buck.

Here is a link to them...

What do you guys think? Anything better for less money?

How about a receiver. It will have to have atleast two HDMI inputs preferably three. And atleast two optical inputs. It must be good but CHEAP!

Finally how about a sub? I want a good sub thats not going to bottom out real easy and can be turned up fairly loud.

Hook me up people![thumbup]

I have the 50's but the 70's are good.. much more mid and bass. Polk makes a good speaker except for their subs. They pretty much suck ass.

Yeah I was considering them as well. They seem to be highly recommended over at the AVS forum. The Outlaw LFM-1 Compact seems to be very highly regarded as well. its about $150 bucks less than the HSU.

If you're not in a big hurry, listen to as many speakers as you can. And hit up Audiogon and craigslist.

Welp I just won two brand new in box Polk Audio Monitor 60 floor standing speakers on Ebay! I won one for $36 bucks and one for $69! These speakers are about $200 dollars a piece online. So I got both for about $150 after shipping! To good of a deal to pass up.

I had listened to some in Tweeters about this time last year. They sounded pretty good, not the best but a good value for the money. They kind of lacked base, but that is what the sub is for.[thumbup]
