Default An epic technical statement
This demonstrates why I don't but parts off E-Bay. A guy I work with has brought 2 sticks of memory he thinks are faulty in for testing today. He's contacted the seller regarding them, and his response was, well, odd. Basically my work mate has been having nothing but BSOD's since fitting the memory. If he runs 1 of the 2 sticks it's fine, with the other stick in, on it's own or as a pair it crashes.

When he queried the seller this was the reply:

"I've never heard of memory causing a Blue Screen of Death, it's impossible." Ladies and gentleman, I present possibly the most epic technical statement I've ever heard.

Only had 1 bad incident with an eBayer. Item said it was 2nd day shipping. I paid for it instantly with PayPal and he waited 9 days before sending it out. I gave him negative feedback for that and he spitefully did likewise. eBay's grading system needs revamping. I guess this means you can tell someone the shipping will be X and send it out whenever you feel like it, and eBay will back you.

Anyways, this seller is obviously wrong. Memory can cause a plethora of BSoDs. Anyone worth their salt in IT knows that.

The usualy statement on ebay of "item worked when pulled from system, sold as is" always scares the crap out of me.

Yeah you can come up against some obstinate bastards on eBay. I bought some OCZ memory from someone off eBay. This batch of OCZ was a bit dodgy and didn't work with Core 2 Duo boards if I remember rightly. So the guy's response when I tried to return them too him and bare in mind I had it confirmed by OCZ by this point that there was a fault with the memory was, "Well that's your problem you should have checked your motherboard against the compatibility list for that memory." The ironic thing being that the compatibility list had no motherboards listed as compatible with the memory. Anyway he was having none of it and flat refused to refund me. Luckily OCZ where fantastic and gave me an RMA and got some working memory back to me super fast.

alot of genuine people probably say that aswell though maybe there just trying to cover themselfs from some moron who doesnt know static kills components that tries to blame the buyer.

i dont use ebay but if i did i would say "item worked when carefully removed from my computer and placed back into its anti static bag and packaged back to how it was orginally"
it would probably put alot of people off but it would be a genuine comment

This is why I would never buy electronics on eBay. It is extremely difficult to prove to eBay that the device you are selling to someone is NOT defective before you actually allow bids on it.

My opinion would only change if someone had a huge number of positive comments, and that their negative comments do not entail misleading product information.
