Would that be the two part version of The Dark Crystal? You know I don't think I've ever seen The Dark Crystal. My dad took me to the Cinema to see it but they were sold out so I got a toy gun instead. I've been waiting 25 years to see that movie!

On the whole, the 1980s was not a notable decade for cinema.

Fanny and Alexander
Jean de Florette
The Name of the Rose
Pelle the Conquerer
Ran
Kagemusha
The Unbearable Lightness of Being
The Decline of the American Empire

What about this list strikes you as "gay"? I'd rather my list be perceived as "gay" than repeat the same old tripe we've seen for the nth time. Everyone loves Raiders and Ferris Bueller, but they're rather ubiquitous and don't really convey individual taste that well. And, as you pointed out, he did ask for good movies. Perhaps you should try wandering off the beaten path occasionally. I listed a diverse range of films, some of which I'm sure you'd enjoy if you gave them a chance.
