For some reason I thought he had been dead for years.

Terrible news.

My brother had told me Arthur C. Clark had died yesterday. He was one of my favorite authors. I've read the whole 2001 series and all the Rama series and absolutely loved them.

He will be missed.

Unfortunately he was the last of the big "3" in SciFi. I've read so much of their stuff. They were all truly visionaries(sp). Robert Heinlein, Isaac Assimov, and Arthur Clarke were truly men without equal. Each one of them actually pushed science and scientific thinking beyond the ordinary. They envisioned so much so far ahead of their respective times.

It is truly a sad day.

A bit late now, but there were always certain 'allegations' about the chap that never really went away also:-

Those rumors about the Earth being flat and the Moon being made of green cheese are still out there too.

I loved his books.
