Default There will be blood
What an excellent film! I just saw it in the theater yesterday. Daniel Day-Lewis does a great job in lead role. The more I've been thinking about the movie the more I like it. Coming out of the theater felt like I had just finished reading a good book. The musical score was also well done. Anyone else happen to see this?

I thought Lewis's performance was great, but that the movie... i dunno, i just really did not enjoy watching a mean man be meaner and meaner for 3 hours. Maybe i was tainted by hearing that it was an oilman vs preacher movie, and had different expectations for it. Because there was no oilman vs preacher about it, it was just oilman owning preacher and everyone else again and again. Now, No Country for Old Men, that was a great movie imo.

I haven't seen No country for old men yet, I might do that soon though. Personally, if you want to enjoy There will be blood you have to look at the character of Daniel Plainview, that's what the movie is really about. God complex comes to mind.

I guess it wasn't just about an oil man vs a preacher it was about two ambitious men who sort to take advantage of a situation one of them who just happen to be more ruthless and experienced than the other. I don't believe you are supposed to go away thinking that the oilman owned again and again, I think you are supposed to leave thinking how little Plainview really won or achieved. The house that he then lived in being a perfect expression for that. The house he wanted to, "live in it and eat in it and clean it and wanted to have children... to run around in it." for all his success he attained none of it. So in that sense it's a story like Citizen Kane or The Great Gatsby.

I found this film to be painfully boring, two and a half hours of boredom.

Still, there was blood... in the last 5 minutes of the film, and frankly you don't need to go a bit mad to want to smash an annoying preachers head in.

Pretty boring movie indeed. I didn't like it. Great acting weak plot that's how i'd describe this movie. But i did like the last five mins or so. "I'm a false prophet and god is a superstition".

The film was great, for one reason. Daniel Day Lewis.

Look at the guy in real life and see how far the character of Daniel Planeview is from him.
Then realise the total awesomeness of the acting ability on show.

That's why I enjoyed it anyways, plus the story was quite good [thumbup]
