AAA also gives multiple insurance discounts. The more vehicles or even a home under the main umbrella account, the lower your insurance goes. So if you get your family members to switch... you can save even more
Yeah =-) my roomie was thinking about switching too!
I forgot to mention that quote was based on a good student discount (3.0+ gpa) and my bank being part of their network or whatever.

Guys, where are you getting your UK insurance info from? I don't know which companes you use, but my car insurance goes down every single year, even when I don't switch.

I started off at 19 with my own policy, £700 third party fire and theft, some rubbish 1.3i Hyundai. At 24 I got it down to £300 fully comp on a Citroen C2 VTS.

I'm buying a BMW in March, it'll only be about £400 fully comp, I'll be 25.

You need to shop around more my friends. I recommend Quote Line Direct, Elephant and Privilege.
Its bound to, its called getting older and more ncb, it will level off then start to creep back up so dont you worry

Well i'm 19, and it's nearly time for me to get insurance, as i'm still under my stepdad's name. [surrender]

Endsleigh looks very tempting though - Around £1100 fully comp on a 2005 Vauxhall Corsa, but it drops another couple hundred quid if I wait until May, when i've officially owned a full license for two years.

Not bad for the car.

If I was to get insured on that, I'd be paying in excess of £2500

It's actually cheaper to insure myself than it is to be under mother's name. Under mother with 7 years NCB costs £1200 on the Honda Jazz 1.2. £940 on my own fully comprehensive. Go figure.

Hopefully will be cheaper this year with my elusive 1 years NCB
What the...thats weird that its cheaper without your mum's NCBs - I always recheck my premium for my own name every year but so far its always worked out cheaper with mums NCBs..Im gonna have to look into those companys where multiple drivers build up NCBs pretty soon.

It kinda sucks for us (I live in MCR too) because almost the whole bloody city is designated as 'uncategorised'.

They have a scale of what they rate different areas as. The higher your area, the cheaper your insurance:

In the UK nearly everybody's insurance jumps at least £20 if not more every year, They say its to pay for all the uninsured drivers out there so I swap & change all the time.

Mind you UK insurance is a joke, got several quotes the other week for 4 cars which ranged from a group 5,7,9 & 17 on the insurance scale & price of the cars was 8k for the 5,7 & 9 and 15k for the 17.

Price difference from group 5 to the 17? £30 [rofl] just goes to show UK insurance is [rolleyes]
tell me about it...

last september replaced a 1991 1.1L fiesta worth about £4.25 which cost me £280 third party which i believe was a group 4 or 5 with a 1997 Toyota Celica GT 2.0L group 15 and now i pay £380 fully comp!!

£100 extra for a 11 group jump, extra 100-120BHP and fully comp cover... cant complain!! (1 years NCB, driving 6 years)

edit: i live in deepest darkest devon so obviously the crime element (apart from myself) is pretty low

Check out Allstate. From all the people that I know who have it, they love it. They have started out extremely low with full coverage + some, plus you still get their discounts that they advertise on TV. Some were even dropped from their old carriers and Allstate still have cheap rates.

I currently have State Farm and I guess that it is ok. Could be cheaper, but have never had any kind of issue, and my rates have slowly been decreasing, but never an increase.
