Doesnt look too bad I guess. I never liked anything but the old series and movies (first 6 I think) so I think I'll watch this in cinema for a change. Last movie I watched in a movie theatre was that one where Kirk and the Doctor were arrested for something, cant remember. But I remember the ship which looked beautyful and the great CGI shots.

I really hope this movie flops so they can actually see going back to the original Trek isnt the way forward. Its bad enough the storyline seems pretty much the same as First Contact but with romulans, but a whole new cast...

Some franchises don't need a reboot, and where Star Trek is concerned I'd suggest all they need is to let the franchise sit idle for a few years until some new writers/producers/directors come along who have an real interest in creating something brand new to drive the series forward. It's been over 20 years since TNG first hit the airwaves, perhaps we can have all new adventures with a new ship and crew.

They did with Voyager which was decent IMO. Then Enterprise flopped. I think if this new movie has any chance it is because of a new cast/director/producer. Hopefully new blood will do the trick. Plus i think Simon Pegg is going to do a good job as Scotty i hope.(at least he is funny)

but time will tell

Yaaaaaaaaaaaawwwwwwwwwwwnnnnnnnn!

I'm glad there are a few people here who seem to also think that this movie is a step backwards.

I'm not really interested in Kirk and co.
Even during their early years.

It's not that they are not good or anything, but the fact they have had a TV series and around 6 or 7 movies about them.
P.S. Shatner and Nimoy are legends - whover's playing the younger versions will NOT capture the essence of those 2, no matter how good they are acting wise.

Why do you think Enterprise wasn't that well recieved?

People crave a forward/future timeline in Star Trek.

They need a new TV series based on a new crew, new interesting enemies/foes as well as the usual ones, and some great new adventures/stories.

I personally don't think they need a new movie now, especially based on Kirk.

But one way of re-energising the franchise would have been to make this movie based on what I mentioned above - new crew based further ahead in the future, cool new fancy ship, a new enemy similar to the Dominion/Borg/Hirogen (ie someone formidable), and take it from there.

Then from that movie - establish the TV series and see how it goes.

This new movie wont be bad - it will be a case of good movie, but meh.
Also relying on a lot of Star Trek fans.
I don't see millions of non Star Trek fans seeing this unless they go crazy over the marketing and advertising.

Yeah I'll go see it in theaters to, the pic off Enterprise in orbit looks great to me, but I agree I'd rather have a forward looking new ST then a revival off the old one's [no]

This may sound condescending but did you know that there is a difference between "off" and "of"?

How do you know that? Have you ever seen Vince Vaughan in the remake of Psycho? As bizarre as that was he did Anthony Perkins to a T, he just wasn't a skinny, lanky homosexual.

How can you be partially dyslexic? Not offense or anything dude, just curious. I thought it was a black and white kinda thing.

I wouldn't say dyslexic as you write everything else fine, it just seems like you mean to write "of" but you write "off" all the time. I wasn't trying to be condescending (hence the disclaimer). Just curious WHY.
