Thank you for smoking is one of the best movies of last year IMO

And then of course there's The Usual Suspects

And Schlinder's list .. Makes me cry every time, even though I don't like WW2 movies.

I am Legend: Follows likeable main character and canine sidekick until both are dead ...but die heroically, i'm not opposed to characters dieing but it seemed slightly pointless in this.
I know... why the hell did he have to commit suicide to kill those things... he could have thrown the grenade and closed the door to the safe and still keep the woman and child safe from harm

Made me sad when Sam died

About Schmidt - story about retirement, love, loss, and life. Starring Jack Nicholson and directed by Alexander Payne.

Garden State - after his mothers death, a young man finds himself after being subdued by medication his whole life. WATCH THIS, sounds like something you'd enjoy for sure. Starring Zach Braff and Natalie Portman. Written and directed by Zach Braff.

and The Weatherman - About a divorced weatherman and his life dealing with his children, career, and ex-wife. Starring Nicholas Cage and directed by Gore Verbinski.
^^^ Loved those ^^^

Plus...

Eternal Sunshine of the Spotless Mind - interesting premise and a feel good film when they find each other again at the end

Kiss Kiss Bang Bang - Whilst the plotline is so simple that I had the entire thing sussed within 15 minutes, it still kept me entertained until the end with alot of good laughs and Michelle Monaghan's tits - even if she has weird nipples [surrender]

Leon - Simply amazing film, can't think how to describe it better than that

40 Year Old Virgin - One of the few films I can watch over and over again and still find hilarious

Fight Club - Cracking idea behind it, genuinely had no idea about what was really going on until E Norton starts to figure things out at the end.

Field of Dreams - Feel good film

Lord of War - A great watch, I especially love the intro following a bullet to Buffalo Springfield's For What it's Worth.

Tenacious D and the Pick of Destiny - Another Jack Black classic

Point Break - One of my favourite films ever

Stranger Than Fiction - Fantastic premise with the narrator narrating Harold Krick's life, film doesn't dissappoint

Superbad - another one from the 40yov/knocked up/etc team of comedians, best bit's probably the cops getting scared by a siren when they're with mclovin - haha

.... just the ones I can think of off the top of my head

Seen and loved all of those, except for Tenacious and Field of Dreams. Gonna give the last one a go [thumbup] cheers

@crowhorse: Yeah I still remember the first time I saw the movie. The ending just gave me some sort of shiver, the one that says "OH ****" no other movie has given me that genuine feeling of surprise.

Serenity, by far I get the happiest feeling when I watch that movie, even though by the end any Firefly fan should be deeply hurt from what happens. I always get a super big smile on my face though and I just hang on each and every word and action and I kind of feel like I'm lucky to be part of something (the fans) that count that movie as their favorite. It's got to be something to do with it being totally awesome but also the whole coming back from the dead when no one said it could happen.

Some of the asian horror movies that I've watched with my friend have always left me feeling just awesome but that partly is because I'm watching them with a great friend, part because we're both into the movie so freaking much, and probably partly because since it is all subtitles you feel slightly disconnected from it, like you never really know just what the hell is going on. I think that's why when they make the jump to a Hollywood version they just don't have the same kick, the whole time you are so comfortable and can watch it with a weaker focus that you always know at some level it's just a movie and something is going to happen. When focusing on the subtitles and not being able to recognize anything vocal besides screams and the sound effects you kind of tune in more to the eerie sound or footsteps or something.

And as for feel-good movies: The best one by far (but IMO this is a lot more of a personal thing) in my opinion is "Pay it Forward".

I moonlight at a video rental joint on the weekends. Been doin' that for a couple of years now. I get to watch whatever I choose. Seen all types of flix. Some of my favorites (and not so favorites) have been mentioned here already. I'll just add:

- The Boondock Saints - cause it's hilarious.
- JSA (Gongdong gyeongbi guyeok) - don't know why, really. Just enjoyed it.
- The Brotherhood of War (TaeGuk Gi), Touching.
- Brotherhood of the Wolf (Le Pacte des loups) - So,so... but watched it again with original french dialogue... made a difference some how. Plus Monica Bellucci made it much more tolerable.
- Open Your Eyes (Abre tus ojos) - thought it was an awesome story, no special effects needed (Vanilla Sky what?).
- Memento - head-trip.
- Equilibrium - reminds me that "Big Brother is still Watching".
- Dear Frankie - umm, cause of Emily Mortimer?
- Stalingrad - ending make me feel so...lonely?
- Das Boot - maybe cause of the display of "camarderie", but the ending...another

Just watched the movie "Sideways" with Paul Giamatti and Thomas Haden Church. It was recommended to me by a co-worker. I really liked truly enjoyed this flick, t'was both funny (hilarious in a scene or two), touching and just all around enjoyable. The ending was bitter-sweet, left me feeling and . It left my g/f like .

Did anyone mention Signs? That film had one of the most memorable endings I can remember.

You gave away the ending to The Usual Suspects. That's at least one spoiler.
