To be fair they are adding a few new applications to the iPod and of course the bug fixes and updates are free. However, I do think the $20 price tag is too much and I think $5-10 would have gone over a lot better, if they were going to charge at all.

That's just pathetic. [thumbdown]

I've got a 3G ipod nano and I think it's brilliant over my old ipod nano, but at times I sure can't stand Apple at times due to the way they treat their consumers, and the fact they can release a piece of turd with an apple logo on it and still get people to buy it.

Fair do's, I bought an iPod, but it's the simplicity of operating the device, the thickness and weight along with a considerable amount of storage for the price is the reason why I bought it (£110 for an 8GB one here).

ive thought about this more and maybe its not so bad.

if apple are happy with the appearance and hardware of the touch, then newer versions are only going to have additional or enhanced versions of the software.

why make people buy a 2008 touch if the 2007 one can be updated to a 2008 version for just a few quid.

if they kept this up for a few years, you could have a 2012 touch having forked out just another 50-70 quid over several years. which is a hell of a lot cheaper than buying new versions of products.

if EA brough out updates like this, id still have fifa 97, but updated to 2008.

I have already paid for, and installed the update on my iPod Touch when it first came out.

What annoys me the most is that it will be free for all new iPod Touch purchases. IMHO Apple should either give it to everyone for free, or charge everyone the update price, not half and half [thumbdown]
