Is that an Aspire AMD Turion ? I just bought my girlfriend one a few months ago from Circuit City. Freggin software and insurance was just as much as the laptop itself. About $1600 bucks altogether with a few accesories like a leather carry thing and the firedog crap. I could have done that myself. Even with the dreaded Vista it works great. Even after dumping a beer on it last week, the keys were covered in foam. There is a God ! I guess I grabed it and fliped it over just in time. Weewww! Pulled the battery immediately and let it dry upside down for a few days. We do have accidental Insu. on it but once they replace it they have forfilled their obligation and we do not want that yet. Not at all if possible. I am thinking of getting her one of those plastic laptop spill covers. Are they any good ?

oh I'm sorry.

did you want to see some uber over clocked volt modded 286 running 3dmark 07 @301 fps In dos with a naked Anime girl painted on the case being humped by some metallic tentacle.

I thought this place was a PC enthusiasts site and I thought others may apprecieate what Ive done.

obviously not but I'm not to bothered

Also you must not look in the mirror very often.

Reminds me of what I did to my Sager 5680 back in 03...

I took apart the laptop, all the way down. Then, i took it to an auto paint shop where it got a professional job for $75. Included sanding, full painting, clearcoat, etc. The paint job looked new until the day i sold it.. i still miss that thing.

Wow Madcat. You have too much time on your hands. =P

Seriously though, that looked sweet. I wouldn't have sold it just because of the paintjob.

Can you give me some tips on how to get the local body shop to commit to something like this, or is it really just luck of the draw and nice guys at the shop?

I did a computer, monitor, and keyboard once, I spent some time looking for a super cool color, I found this almost black metallic gray that was iridescent when the light was hitting it at the right angle, and put on a few coats of ultra high gloss clear coat. looked pretty sweet.

Heh - i take that as a compliment.[thumbup]

Anyway, as the old phrase goes - "Let your fingers do the walking". I just called around to some shops, and asked them straight up if they would be willing to paint a computer case. Most actually said yes; then it was just a matter of price. If you do want a laptop sprayed, you will need to take it ALL the way down to case parts.

Also, keep in mind that for the paint to dry correctly, you need to leave it at teh shop for at least a day, probably two. Assuming you can live without the laptop for a few days, go for it. [thumbup]

Awesomeness. Yes, as I told one of my previous bosses who was nervous about letting me disassemble his laptop, "I've taken apart more laptops than you've owned."

You know though, it never ceases to amaze me to see how many spare screws they always pack into the laptops!
