2012 Unlimited philosophy I've never really understood a lot of the 2012 thing and find it impossible to believe that we will pass through dimensions or other things like that. I will not however deny the fact of Armageddon Anyway about other life... Why is it assumed that earth-like habitats are the only types available for supporting life? Even in the earth, there are new organisms found everyday that are breath-taking and sometimes seem impossible to exist such as the undersea creatures that are found living in deep sea trenches or by hot spewing methane pipes (maybe not methane but hot gasses). If there is intelligent life, I think it would be almost near impossible to find just because of the vast distance of communications and the factors of technological advancements. Who knows, maybe we are the only "intelligent free-thinking" life forms in the universe but there are other animals in galaxies. |

The proof there is intelligent life is that we can't find it. Human beings are, after all, fairly dumb creatures. Our minds are capable of so much, yet because of "social norms" we limit the way we think, not to mention following silly laws created by "smart minds". |

0.125 according to my equation
Rate of star formation in the galaxy = 1 Fraction of starts with planets = 0.5 Number of earth like planets/star = 0.01 Fraction of earth like planets where life develops = 0.25 Fraction where intelligent life develops = 0.01 Fraction where communication develops = 0.5 Lifetime of civilization after reaching radio communication = 20000 |

Well if we told the Japanese that theres a planet with sexy school girls and alien tentacles, we'd be going faster than the speed of light in no time.[rofl] I could do without the tentacles, though. [thumbdown] |

If the universe is infinite therefore every imaginable scenario is possible.
If the universe is infinite therefore every imaginable scneraio is real and happening. I'd like to think we are not alone in the universe. Unfortunately as long as the universe is not quantified I cannot decide wether I believe we are the only ones or not. Both theories are equaly true to me. I'll go sleep. |

I believe the first and most obvious flaw in your theory about the universe is that matter is not infinite. Just being able to imagine something does not make it possible or real. But that's where you can start having fun with alternate reality. Does it exist? Don't know, but if it does, it truely could be infinite. |

Well, if you believe in dark matter, and accept the fact that the material universe we live in represents only about 4% of the actual "stuff" the universe is made of, and that this other "stuff" that comprises the other 96% of the universe seems to interact only gravitationally with the rest of the universe, then we might be looking at this question from a completely wrong, egocentric perspective.
There might be zillions of weird, exotic civilizations out there, but perhaps they are dark matter civilizations, much to busy to interact with the weird little freaks of nature that are matter civilizations. Or not [yes] |
