Default Shame on Newegg!!
I'm interested in the 780i evga board and have been looking around for them. Saw on newegg yesterday from $279. Later that night it was $299. This morning it was $310 and now look:

http://www.newegg.com/Product/Produc...88024&Tpk=780i

I believe in capitalism as much as the next guy but this is pure price gouging and I'm disappointed in newegg. The board list for $259 on the evga site. Newegg used to sell less than retail; isn't that the point?

Just my opinion...

I love me some NewEgg, but this is just capitalism. Same thing happened with the 8800GTs. MSRP sets a price, and then if demand is high, retailers get what they can out of people.

nVidia said the 780i series with modest acoutrements would be "around $200" So I figured $250 for the holiday season right? Let's stay away from those X38 and P35 price tags of $300+.

Now it looks like we're getting likewise. Ah well, I told myself I would wait til Feb/Mar (whenever the Q9450 is out) and see what 780i boards are out at that time, ensuring I do research into reviews and looking for the latest revisions. Right now, I'm kind of iffy on gettin the mobo with all the delays nVidia and Intel have gone through. And this... $330 for a mobo is just ludicrous.

I've no problems buying my last 2 components through another vendor.

Alot of price increases like that are usually automatic. They increase as the item sells more and more, so if lots of people are buying a new mobo just as its released, its going to trigger it and the high demand will push the price up.

There is nothing wrong with newegg. I've purchased over 30K worth of stuff from them in the last 8 years and they have never done me wrong. All new motherboards with the latest Nvidia chipset are always priced through the roof. If you don't want to pay that much then wait a while. BTW...if you don't like newegg don't shop there. Its not like you're being forced to plop down your credit card.
