Default Anyone have the LG Voyager?
Im about to get one this weekend, just curious about what FM'ers think of the phone.
Ive read some site reviews, but some tend to be biased, but none the less they all seem to rank it pretty high, some even above the iphone.
Im thinking about getting the basic nationwide coverage, that starts @ 39.99, and get the +5$ a month mobile email. I kinda am thinking about getting the mobile webstuff also, cause i think this phone is probably great on the web, i just dont know.
Need some FM'ers opinions! speak up

I have the phone and think it's really awesome. I love the touch screen and the full qwerty keyboard. I had the env vx9900 before this for a week and think the voyager is way better. I never really used the web on this phone or any other phone but it seems pretty nice.

The Verizon guy said you could set an AD account on it as a timed POP account to make it act like it's on Exchange. Has anyone tried that yet? If so I might shy away from WM the next phone i get...

I really wonder how people can afford internet via cellphone these days. Heck, I'm paying like 8€ per month total, but thats calling and sending SMS' only of course. And even though I'm making enough money I wouldnt even think of getting an internet plan for my cell phone because prices are so ridiculous. Thats like paying 350€ for a 8800GT.

What do you people (who use internet on a regular basis on their cell phones) pay per month?

It's pretty resonable with iPhone. Any existing AT&T plan can add the "iPhone Plan" which includes unlimited data and 200 txt for $20/month. $30 for 1500 txt, $40 for unlimited txt.

Basically the cheapest you'll walk away from AT&T is $59.99 a month for unlimited data with the iPhone. There are other phones that don't really have the "full internet" (crappy flip phones with crappy browsers) that you can get internet with for like $5.99/month or something but for the full internet on a really powerful phone, it's about $20 extra a month. There is pay as you go data but that's only good for checking email, just loading a few megs will easily start to past the cost of a monthly internet plan.

I've used between 190 and 320 meg each month with my iPhone and haven't had a single thing said, I expect you could use probably twice that much without any problems, I'm sure it's not "unlimited" but it's way up there.

Ha, I have to work with that phone all day at my job. The phone isn't all that great (bugs/slow/BUGS) and verizon sure sticks some crappy old software on there. If you have any real specific questions ask me and I can try it ou for ya

ok so looking through there site alittle more, i see
V CAST VPak
Get the most out of your V CAST phone with VPak. Hundreds of video clips daily, including sports highlights and news updates. Email and shop online with Mobile Web 2.0. And play amazing 3D and multi-player games.

Plus with VPak you’ll get unlimited megabytes for V CAST Music, V CAST Video, Mobile Web 2.0 and Get It Now. All for just $15 a month.

It seems like they are trying to confuse people, or atleast me anyway.

this added 15$ a month means i can browse the internet, not JUST the vcast stuff right?
well?

Is that unlimited data on a "Smart Phone" or PDA? I know at least with AT&T and I think with Sprint they have difference "levels" of internet depending on the phones. Little flip phones with a 190x92 screen or something isn't going to burn through near as much data OR be able to render half of the complex pages out there compared to a PDA/Smart Phone. Like I said, I think with AT&T you can get "MEdia Net" with most their phones for an extra $5 or $10 a month but any BlackBerry, PDA, or Smart Phone / iPhone falls into the higher level of like $20 to $30 a month (I think the BlackBerry plan is actually more then the iPhone one).

Edit: Actually, when I look at the web sites to compare the iPhone data with Verizon's data you need to look at their "National Access" Plan which is on their "Voice & Data" plans made for PDA/Smart Phones and BlackBerry. The cheapest they have with unlimited text is $99.99 for 450 minutes + all that stuff. With AT&T $99.99 could get you 900 minutes plus unlimited data and text, so ya, AT&T is right about the same price, or better. (I say the same because on the lowest plan Verizon includes unlimited night/weekend and AT&T only gives you 5000 minutes.) VCast doesn't seem to be the same as the "full internet". It may let you surf to any page on a flip phone or candy bar phone or something but a Tero or Palm phone probably requires the national access plan because VCast's Terms say " V CAST cannot be used: (i) for access to the Internet, intranets or other data networks except as permitted via Get It Now;"

Anyway, really that only bests the AT&T plan but offering unlimited texting and Verizon has always been better then the other guys when it came to texting plans. That unlimited isn't just to Verizon phones, is it? I know AT&T has some deal where for like an extra $5 they offer unlimited texting to AT&T/Cingular phones but it's not really worth it.

I was just gunna say the same thing. I get unlimited txt, internet, and picture mail for $30 with sprint.
So basically $30 for unlimited data and text. Only 10 cheaper then AT&T. iPhone can handle "picture mail" by sending emails and honestly yes, the phone lacks MMS but there are already 3rd party programs which are building MMS into the phone and by the time the SDK drops in Feb, I wouldn't be surprised to see an official Apple update that lets you MMS. I doubt the plan prices will increase either since we're signed into contract, if it's not official, I know a 3rd party will do it and either just use per SMS costs OR maybe bypass that and get it on data somehow. It's going to be exciting. We've got a real GPS unit in the works too! That seems ideal, no battery drain or extra thickness/weight to the phone 90% of the time when I don't need it, but awesome compact simple real GPS on the few times a year I'm taking a trip or traveling in a strange city.

For the power of the phone, I'm very happy with the price for internet. I'm just hoping AT&T will upgrade their network nation wide to 3G and that they get the battery hogging problems fixed so it can be moved to 3G without a hit in battery life. It'll probably be the fastest browser out there.

I didn't read what acarney said, but it is the actual internet. I'm browsing the web on it right now (of course all sites don't work- but that's to be expected).
menu > browser > browser brings you to the verizon mobile browser.

I still think the phone's ass-tastic though.

As for your vcast questions, sorry that application's not on my phone so I can't test it out for you.

The Voyager does (as far as I know) but they probably will tell you that you can't use "Vcast" with it or need "National Access" or "Broadband Access" to actually get on the internet. Either that or it has a REALLY crappy browser that can't really render much. I can't picture any PDA or Smart Phone that has a browser that doesn't have to reformat the web sites or can load things like the FM chat box being able to use their cheapo "internet" plan.

Yeah, I love Sprint!

500 anytime mins, unlimited txt, unlimited data/internet, unlimited picture mail and nights/weekends start at 7pm and mobile to mobile. The price you ask? only $25 bucks a month.

I'm using the moto q9c smartphone.

I don't count unadvertised or select market prices, only national stuff showing up on their web site. Sprint's comparable plan to mine right now would cost... $94.99 before tax. With AT&T I pay $94.98 before tax, amazing, isn't it?

The break down:

Sprint vs AT&T
Both a Family Plan with a second line

700 min vs 700 min (+RollOver)
Unlimited Data on one line vs. Unlimited Data on one line
300 txt on both lines vs 200 txt on both lines

So honestly yes, Sprint gives a little extra texting and a few extra hours of "night/weekend" time but other then that, they're almost dead equal in price. I know there are retention departments with both companies but I only compare the average Joe prices. I don't want to fight with five reps and sit on hold and try to score a deal and then watch every month to make sure it doesn't disappear or something. Some people have amazing deals because of stuff like that but to me it's not Apples to Apples. I'm also not comparing networks, I'm just saying feature wise you look at about the same price (at least with middle ground family plans) between at least AT&T and Sprint, I would bet Verizon was within 20% of the price too.

acarney, I just went there to compare, i came up with $89.99 for Sprint and $89.98 for ATT, looks like ATT is competing against Sprint.

But with Sprint, you get the 7pm calling for free, and more texting, and you also get the higher speed mobile broadband.

Unless, you want tp spend $14 more dollars on Sprint and get the unlimited texting which applies to both lines. With ATT, you'd have to spend $19 more for unlimited, but doesn't apply to both lines.

Thats the better option.

My plan was not a call retentions plan, it came this way and it is national.

Verizon's mobile web 2.0 is the internet yes, and it's not just verizon-approved sites. You will find however, that the browser is missing many things that cripple a true web experience (java, flash, etc).
