Default So i just met Kimbo slice while eating dinner..
So i'm out to this fancy-dancy restaurant, for my brother-in-laws b-day.

were eating dinner, and guess who walks in!

http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Kimbo_Slice

Kimbo Slice, the biggest blackest guy i've ever seen. (no racism intended)

Hes got his whole crew with him, including what he called his girlfriend.

Btw, we were eating a restaurant called "The Melting Pot" sorta like a hibachi type restaurant, but you cook your own food, when kimbos waiter informed him of that, he was nooooot happy.

http://www.meltingpot.com/locations....33076&n=397581

I was just so surprised to see him, as hes from miami (about 45mins south of me)

Overall he seemed like a nice, humble guy.

I did't want to bother him for a pic or autograph, but i just said hello, said i was a big fan and shook his hand.

I've never met any sort of celebrity's before, so i was kind of star-struck.

He's lining up a UFC slot isn't he? No doubt he's a great slugger, but I believe he's been taking the professional fight scene seriously recently to earn some decent pay days.

[rofl] i just saw a 60 minutes type piece about him on ESPN, and i've seen his fights on youtube and ect.. Apparently he's training to become a traditional MMA fighter. They said he signed with Showtime. Anyways, pretty funny story that you met him. If it were me, I would have jokingly asked him if he thought i could kick his arse. I did the same once with Claude Lemieux and he thought it was pretty funny and got a good chuckle. Not sure if Kimbo would have had the same reaciton though![rofl]

i remember watching a couple of his fight vids.... almost disgustingly brutal (most would consifdrer them just that) but anyways I heard he lost a match, and was absolutely shocked to hear this. I had to give that one a look. I actually was glad he got his ass handed to him.... a guy like that has it coming.

Tito Ortiz, Rich Franklin and some other MMA stars were on that ESPN piece saying Kimbo would get absolutely shredded if he got in the ring with a true MMA professional. To tell you the truth, I'd like to see that.

oh yeah... Melting Pot is a pretty cool concept. I was just at one about a month ago.

yeah, same here. I liked it because it's kinda unique, and it's fun to go with a group. I'm a filet mignon type of guy myself....but melting pot is alright sometimes. Kinda like Shogun Japanese grill or something. It's pretty fun.

anyways, the ESPN show i forget the name, but it's a brand new sports 60 minutes type show. It's called "E" something. maybe E60 or something. You can probably find it online over at espn.com.

Eh thats pretty cool... I like Kimbo but I don't think MMA will suit his style. He's a great street fighter but MMA is just so hard to compete in if you don't have much experiance in grappling/ jujitsu.

He's being trained by Bas Rutten, so he'll have his fair shot. That is, if EliteXC will actually put some legitimate competition in front of him so we can see how good he is.

Latest rumor I heard was that EXC were trying to put together a four man tournament featuring Kimbo, Tank, Bob Sapp, and Butterbean, which is just about the most retarded thing I've ever heard. If it miraculously gets put together, though, it will be a hell of a spectacle.

If he's getting trained by Bas Rutten ( I wasn't aware of this ) then he's definitely got a shot. Isn't he down to 240 pounds now ( from 270? ). He can take hits definitely, once he builds up more stamina and technique he's good to go. I wouldn't say he's great now though ( compared to the rest of UFC fighters ). If you watch the cop fight he got beat after a while and that wasn't with elbows/knees/ and there wasn't any ground and pound.

I'd like to see him fight someone more recognizable.

The Melting Pot is a fondue restaurant. Fondue was popular in the US back in the 70s.

He's done a couple of fixed fights so far, I'd love to see him take it up against a real opponent.

There is no doubt Kimbo is interesting and a real brawler to be sure! I just hope it stays that way. The money is in.. and getting him to the big money should be interesting...

Exactly. I'm sort of impressed how well Kimbo has taken to MMA (for being a "non-skilled" bar fighter). He's got a submission victory under his belt already. And Bas was the man in his day and a good trainer.

However, Fedor would/will tear his arm off secords into the first round. That guy is like the Terminator. Kimbo and other "intense" fighters can't overwhelm him and end up submitted. Look at his fight with Randleman.. He (Fedor) was suplexed on his head and even with that, Randleman ended up in a kimura about 30 seconds later.
