If youre doing the job of a carer, say for someone with a long term illness/disability, you can actually get paid for it, assuming youre not working at the moment, or only working less than 20 hours part time. Might be some thing you want to enquire about, I dont know how much it pays, but no harm in looking?

Tell me about it. [thumbdown]

Not to sound racist or remotely in any way, but where I work (pharmaceuticals company), the place is now full of Polish people everywhere, with barely any English people left as opposed to when I started, when there wasn't any working there. Ever since the Polish people arrived, the job is just crap. Only recently i've now been forced to work less hours so i'm paid less per week thanks to Polish taking over what was rightfully my job. It's money I need badly at the moment. [rolleyes]

I don't mind people from different origins at all, but I do if they take over all the jobs available to a student like myself where i'm someone who still needs to have a salary coming in.

DSK i may get carers allowance when my mums disability claim goes through, i have been told i can still work as long as i still spend a minimum of 30hours a week helping my mum , its not alot of money but better then nothing, i would still have to work part time.

Went to my local jobcentre for an interview today and they had about 8 partime jobs on the system of which zero were suitable

Competition is at the heart of Capitalism. Let the free market decide who gets the job.
