Yeah, some of the footage is amazing. Almost makes me want to go out and spend £3000 on a HD camcorder.

Default Planet Earth - the best thing you'll ever seen on TV
Just been watching this on my dads new Sony 46" HDTV on BBC HD. Absolutely breath taking footage and detail in the picture - every damn frame of every second you could mount on your wall !!!
But the picture isn't the best thing about it - it's the incredible and beautiful animals that I've never seen or heard of before! Like the Snow Leopards which took them 3 years to capture on film (being the first anyone has captured them in hunt).
I've seen a lot of wildlife documentaries on the BBC but this series has to be the best

If anyone hasn't seen Planet Earth I insist they go and buy it on HD format of your choice. Words can't begin to describe how good it looks!

You can download some HD clips here

I own it on HD DVD and it's a fun documentary. Lots of scenes are very beautiful. The only thing I didn't like was that they used a lot of the same footage over and over throughout the series.

oh, sorry folks. The HD clips aren't all that good anyway - looks much better on the big screen where you can see every blade of grass and every crack in rocks - incredible.

Ow meh I wanted to see them on my pc anyway, my tv is far from HD capable

I'm thinking about going to see a nature flic in the Omniversum here in the Netherlands, that's even better than HD at home I recon, but I want to take my son and 5 months is to young to enjoy it

Their not showing any real good movies either, ashame because they did so in the past.

I have the whole series on hddvd, it is awesome! The only problem is I can't watch any episodes right now as my 360 red ringed on me. I suppose I could always hook the hddvd drive up to my computer and then use my hdtv as the monitor via dvi-hdmi.

that's ironic, because just last night Blue Planet and Planet Earth were both airing in HD on Discovery HD and Science HD, and i wathced an episode of each (arctic for blue planet and mountains for planet earth) and I remember thinking Blue Planet was more impressive. Regardless, both are extremely well made. I loved the Snow Leopard part of Planet Earth also.[thumbup]

Yeah Blue Planet is AWESOME. I have the DVD set (not HD). I only saw the "Pole to Pole" part of Planet Earth....it was unbelievable. My HD cable service isn't the best but is was still nice to watch.

The bast part was when that shark jumped up and out of the water and got almost an entire seal in it's mouth! It's mouth seemed like it must have been like 5 or 6 feet wide! That was the most amazing shark clip I've ever seen. It was like a real life "Jaws" [thumbup]

There's another HD program called something like "Planet Sunrise". It's just footage only (no commentary) where they left HD cameras in some exotic part of a country and filmed different areas where the sun was rising and it's very cool & beautiful to watch. It shows an area for 20-30 seconds, then moves to another area, showing foliage & wildlife as the sun is coming up.
