phew, when you mentioned I'd be in the video, I started worrying. Thankfully it was only a short bit.

I enjoyed the video, and it was fun having you here for a week. Take care duder.
Were you the dude talking to the camera with a camera in your hand or the one getting arrested? [rofl]

That was a great video with some spectacular scenery ! You lucky prick Lenny lol.

Looks like you did more when I went on a 3 week trip to US/Canada with a 1 week cruse to Alaska!

Oldie is the one getting arrested, he got busted at the Illegal Mexican checkpoint.

I did get to see a lot! But also miss a lot. The unfortunate thing with a tour is that you never get to thoroughly check out a place. The up side is you're never sitting around bored, because before you get to see everything you're already on your way to the next place.

As for being lucky to take such a trip how much do you think the tour cost? Well that 13 day tour, staying in 3 star accommodation with most days breakfast included and some dinners cost $1800 AU. Granted all the helicopter rides, balloons (which had chanpange breakfast after ), boats and stuff are extra, but that cost me another $420 US.

BTW Oldie25 can be spotted in the Chicago section, talking on his mobile in the car.

It was a few years ago now but I think my trip was about $3000AUD or so.
That was airfare and the cruse with all meals included (the bit I liked best because you
could eat what you wanted when you wanted! lol)
A helicoptor ride in Alaska and $500 or so for a camera. Plus other stuff that I've forgotten.

How did you guys organise all of this?

$3000 AU!!! That's cheap! initial cost was $4300 all flights (inc flights to Chicago) and the contiki tour. Then $420 US for my contiki extras, like helicopter rides, balloon rides etc. and exactly $1000 USD spending money. so roughly around $6000.

Pretty much my trip wasn't organised that well. Work told me to take 20 days worth of leave 1 month before I had to take them. So I submitted my leave and from there I spent one afternoon piecing it all together, and then I had the weekend to go over all the details before I had to pay it all off and secure flights etc. Put simply I was lucky to get on the tour, and flights were not easy to get.

It was probably more like $3500
I remember the air fare was $1600AUDish.
We got the 1 week cruse for about $700 The room we had was an upgraded one with a
private balcony.

Got it so cheap because my sister worked on the ship and got us a good deal!

Default Lenny returns from USA holiday!
Hey everyone! Well I thought I'd share some pictures of my holiday with everyone. I've had a few people bug me to get some pictures up on FM. lol.

Pretty much I spent my first week in Chicago. I stayed at oldie25's apartment. Then the next 2 weeks I spent my time on a Contiki tour which is for 18-35 year olds. Click link for trip details. http://au.contiki.com/tours/26-wild-western

Pretty much while on the Contiki every night was a drinking night, though some were more full on than others. We got to see a tonne of stuff however because you're forced on a tour there were some places we wished we could stay for longer.

EDIT: Video uploaded!!! (89MB) http://rapidshare.com/files/58939629/web_version.avi

Video Highlights
# San Diego harbor
# San Diego zoo
# Chicago
# Grand Canyon
# Vegas at night
# Yosemite National Park
# San Francisco

Holiday Highlights:

Dangling legs over a ledge of the Grand Canyon drinking champagne and watching a lightning storm. Durning sunset/evening.

Vegas night life. Went to Rum night club in Meridian Bay (awesome sound system) and the following night gambled in the Bellagio. Won $20...lol!

Seeing snow fall at Yosemite national park and looking at the new formed snow capped peaks. Also the pool at Bass Lake was awesome to watch the sun set.

German girls on tour... need I say more.

Meeting friend I went to school with from AZ. Hence why I'm wearing Uni of AZ T-shirt, as it was a gift.

I guess there are many things I can post about... I'll just leave it all a bit later. Fee free to ask any questions.

It's Me!

I had this done to me too! We went to Tijuana for lunch.

Squirrel things everywhere!

Downtown Chicago. Sear tower IMO is an ugly ass mofo. Handcock all the way IMO. My Chiggy photos didn't turn out too well.

The GC... and no, it's not the Game Cube.

Oldie25 said he lived in a shithole suburb... ok...

Some boat on Chicago river.

Those are all awesome places. I have been to all of those places and they are all lovely. Except Chicago, only drove through so it doesn't count.
How was Tijuana for you? I have heard mix views but I guess it depends on where you go. [rofl] I enjoyed it myself.

Did you get to go down into the Canyon? That is the one thing that I wished that I had got to do.

Great pics and I am sure that you had a blast!
How long were you here, and did you go with your old buddy on purpose or was it like, "OMG, WTF!!!! Its you!" kind of thing?

No I didn't get to go to the Bottom. Not enough time to hike down, and the helicopter hiking tour that was going to drop us down the bottom couldn't promise us that they would be able to pick us up since there were thunder storms that day. A little disappointing. Everyone in the group that was doing that tour decided to play it safe and just do a 45 minute chopper ride over the canyon.

Tijuana was a lot of fun! We were only there for 2 hours for lunch. I thought it would have been been pretty fun to spend an evening there.

I did meet my old friend on purpose. I told him what time's the tour would be in his area. We then went out for the evening and had a really good Chinese meal and had a few drinks down another bar.

Since I was staying with oldie25, touring Chicago was a bit harder than what I thought it would be. It was very much appreciated that oldie took me in, but since he lived so far out, public transport to get to the train station wasn't easy and so I relied on oldie to take me in his car. Oldie did take me for drives around the suburbs, which are nice. Also we did go out several times in the suburbs and met up with a few of his mates. One day on the weekend I was there we went to the Goose Island brewery, and man Goose Island make some good beer! [thumbup]

Where in the US are you?

If anyone wants a good tour group then I highly recommend Contiki. Just like all tour groups, the unfortunate thing is you lose a bit of your independence and sometimes you wish you could have done something a little different. Great value for money! Some really nice accommodation we had, I was expecting things to be worse!

I was in some pretty good accommodation! 3 star hotels all round. The worse accommodation was in Vegas, since they used American's Best Value Inn near the strip.

Bass lake... http://www.basslake.com/chalets.html

Hotel Whitcomb San Fran.

I also edited a 20 minute video I wouldn't mind uploading somewhere.

You've seen more of my country than I have. I have lived in Minnesota and now live in Wisconsin and have been to Michigan and Iowa..

Some day I'll have to pack up my ambulance and drive across this massive country. (Its what we use for a camper lol)

Yeah it's funny how people don't explore their own countries. There was a guy on the plane on the his way to LAX and he had never been outside the state of South Australia yet he's decided to take a trip to the USA.

Also I'm compressing my Holiday video I made. it's about 20 minutes long and should compress to about 90MB. I'll upload to rapidshare when done. So keep an eye on this thread. [thumbup]

I'm pretty sure I did overstay my welcome just a little.

If there was more room in the budget I would have seen NYC then come back to Chiggy. If I was on a bigger salary I might have burned a bit more cash. Still no word on pay rise.

Still had fun seeing the sites with ya, even though I did have to direct you around your own city. [rofl]
