It is indeed my old roommate. I checked out his IMDB profile:

Looks like the earliest stuff he did was with Joe and Anthony Russo. Joe Russo was a teaching assistant in my theater classes, and a friend of Jake's. They collaborated on a campus live comedy show while I was there. If you check Joe Russo's IMDB profile, the earliest thing there is a movie called "Pieces". Jake and he were writing a part of that while I was living with Jake.
