I think you'd be surprised by the amount of automatics on the road in the UK. A lot of the exec/luxury barges are equipped with autos either semi or fully auto. I personally drive an auto and quite honestly I would never buy an auto again, they're so uninvolving and boring to drive. It's only a 4speed auto and on a 2.8 v6 engine it sux, not to mention torque steer and wheelspinning in the wet if you're not careful, truly awful.

I'm aware alot of luxury class vehicles will have an automatic (cars such as Mercs mostly in particular), but for the everyday manufacturer such as Ford or Vauxhall, they're alot more rarer IMO.

I'd agree with you there. I'd always prefer a manual as it feels more involving to drive and far more flexible too.

Erm...sorry but theres a huge different between some 4spd auto and the 5,6,7 and 8 spd transmissions you find in a proper luxury car. Then theres the CVT transmissions and the semi autos like BMWs SMG and Audis DSG.

Maybe your cars trans is truly awful, but the new cars have amazing automatic transmissions. Obviously if you disagree you havent driven one of those.

I've always wondered... why buy a sh*tty car and spend fortunes on ugly body kits instead of going for a decent car right from the start??

Anyway...

Here's mine (not the Rav4 ):

Too bad the C class weighs over 3500 lbs. Nothing like driving a brick around.
i thought that would be light comapred to other stuff in the states i dont think thats abnormally heavy anyway. it is probably a bit heavier than a 3 series, but about 75% the weight of an X5.

I guess it comparison it isn't really that bad. If I bought a sports car though I would want it to way no more than 3000 lbs. I thought most cars in that range weighed less but the Acura TL is around 3300 and the A4 weighs around 3500 as well. Quite heavy compared to my 2500 lb civic.

'06 Evolution IX MR SE (old pics, I now have carbon fiber side spats, Ganador mirrors & some other goodies on it):

DYING to get my Buschur Racing Stage I & II kit for it. Might be a few months before I can allocate funds to that project though.

How much would a new head gasket cost? I'm pretty sure it won't be a cheap job, but if everything else on your car is mechanically sound, then why not get it done?

The biggest problem with cars. At one moment, everything's ok, but the next moment and you find there's a big problem.
