But have you seen the Superman: Doomsday DVD just released? If not, run, don't walk, and get it. Don't forget that it's rated PG-13.

BTW: I couldn't even tell you where to begin with the comics, I haven't read them in years.

Is this the proclaimed Death of Superman story? If so, I was actually really interested. The only thing better than Superman is a Superman that can die.

Yes, in the early 90's there was a story arc called "The death of Superman". It was quite good. This DVD follows that arc.

Superman also makes a great cameo in 'Hush'.
I enjoy seeing the sanctimonious prick get a good beating.

Still looking forward to Doomsday though, I enjoy Timm's work on DC characters.

I was so fascinated in this idea, a superhero has his vulnerability exposed and taken advantage of. In fact, any story where the main character is susceptible to death makes for a good one imo. I'll def have to check this out!

I read a ton of comics - Superman included. As far as arcs - the death/return of superman is in a few very cheap trades - Death of Superman, World Without a Superman and Return of Superman.

Other's not connected but I've enjoyed immensely: Superman Secret Identity by Busiek, Up Up and Away by Busiek as well.

the first or any comics titled All-Star Superman by Morrison. Identity Crisis - not entirely about Superman but great story which leads into Infinite Crisis which of course you'll be totally lost if you're new to comics but hey, its a great Sups story.

New Frontier by Darwyn cooke, Red Son by Millar and of course Kingdom Come and Peace on Earth which of course will introduce you to Alex Ross. If you'd like to go further back and also understand some of the entire DCU history - Crisis on Infinite Earths but don't say I didn't warn you about being confused.

Oh yeah - Smallville is a must have and I can't do more than tell you to run out and buy or steal it - man I love that show.

I just saw Superman Doomsday, good flick. But they chose wrong person to do the voice for Loise Lane, she sounded like a 60 year old drunk hag.

Forgetting arcs for a moment, where do I start when buying a normal Superman comic?
