Default What is the tool called used for shaving your head?
What is the proper name of the product that the barber uses to shave a client's head or shave a client's sideburns? For those in the US, do any of you think I could pick one up at Target or someplace similar?

Do not confuse "beard trimmers" with "hair clippers" difference is the blade width.

Clippers, trimmers, shears, electric clippers. All names you can find those under.

And yes, you can get them at pretty much any place, i believe. I think I bought mine at Wal-Mart.

Notice that the URL to that image is "http://www.germes-online.com/direct/dbimage/50192413/AC_Power_Clippers.jpg"

All you had to do was read the URL to figure out what that tool is called.

I was wondering if they had a formal name. What do you think they would say if I walked into the store asking for AC Power Clippers? They would probably look at me and go

Why would you walk into a store asking for them. Just walk to the hair section and poof, i'd bet they'd be there.

I think I've looked for them at Target before but I probably didn't look in the right place and I couldn't find them. Anyhow I will look again and should I need to ask someone I will know the proper terminology.

heh I use hair clippers on my face
i used to aswell before mine stopped working, was a really quick shave to, just finish off with a razor if you dont want a bit of stubble.
need to get me some more, worked better than an £100 electric shaver my wife bought me and cost a hell of alot less!

I recently just bought one with a ceramic blade as it doesnt need oiling every use and hopefully stay sharp for ages, plus it also uses a rechargable battery which is really handy specialy as i do it myself.
I wouldnt touch a cheap steel blade clipper again the blades went blunt quick and constantly going out of align.
Blade 2 all over FTW.

A hairdresser - don't call them a tool to their face though, those scissors can sting.
