From the evidence I have seen. Apple really doesn't care about the consumer.

Dateline did an article about Ipod thefts. Showing how to track them and how to get some of them back. When they went to the company, Apple kept giving them BS answers to things that would be trivial for Apple to do to prevent Ipod thefts.

Oddly enough, I'm sure smashing it with a 12 lb sledge IS covered, but he used a 12.6 lb, which the rocket scientists at Apple would probably say is "damage caused by an apparent overclocking of the CPU".

I can probably see apple doing that. And those repair prices are ridiculous. But on the other hand, given those ridiculous repair prices, he could probably have made a decent killing on ebay selling the macbook for parts.

One day Apple won't have such big arrogant heads. Usually this happens when unexpected
competition comes along, or unexpected sales struggles (usually from treating your customers like this). They act the way they do because times are good and they have their little niche market. Nothing lasts forever.

I hate the spill excuse companies use. I had a Phillips receiver. In my entertainment center, completely enclose. One day it stopped working. I take it out from the center and there was a "leak" under it. still under warranty i go to get it fixed, guy says no, warranty doesn't cover acts of god etc etc and that something was spilled. i finally take it apart, turned out to be a capacitor blew. i was pissed.[cursing] got a cheap ass klh one and its been fine for about 6 years now

There's cheaper ways of doing it though, like going to your kitchen's fruit bowl!

I would have laughed if just before the mallet landed on the Macbook, the thing powered up all fully functioning![rofl]

fruit bowl... what's that [rofl]

Btw, if this is really common practice for Apple, why the hell are they still in buisiness? Damn novelty lovers buying a iphone which is 3 years backwards in time and two times the pricing a good phone should be... Mac books I can understand more though, no I should say could understand as I always thought Apple had a pretty good warranty/custumor support and it's nice to have a laptop without Windows or worries about compatibilities. Mac still got that coverd right? Or are they really only a nice brand now...?
