I think some people are confusing "Belief" and "Possibility". They're not the same thing.
Maybe i should have said "believe in the possibility".

"realist"

What a funny word.

When a ghost exists.. and you don't believe it due certain reasons, you're called a realist.

Makes more sense to me. I think the possibility is there, but I wouldn't bet my life on it so I can't really say I believe in ghost.

Since I have no evidence either way then I would say the answer is yes.
Eh but isn't the burden of proof on the people who believe there is ghosts? They have to prove that ghosts do exist...not that we have to prove they don't exist.

Unless someones trying to stuff their belief down your throat, I don´t think anybody needs to prove anything.
I think if someone decides to believe in something, then that´s their choice.
And all in all, the reasons for someone believing may differ from person to person. One may for an instance believe in Ufo´s because they´ve seen something themselves, others because of simple math (size of the universe, number of planets, etc) and others just because they have faith in it being so.
And btw imo, somethings need to be experienced personally to be believed.
If someone would post a rather clear clip (ghost hunters style) of a misty ghost like figure moving across a room, would you believe it were a ghost ? I don´t think so,..
It could be edited (i hear photoshop ) or whatever.
But maybe if you were there and would see it face on, then maybe you´d change your way of thinking.

You know Golem, maybe this is a good reason to start a new thread, but I'm with you all the way on there being life on other planets and even intelligent life. But there are "armchair logic" reasons I can come up with that would refute the idea of them visiting this planet in the form of something we could detect (ie, big organic creatures in an airplane-sized ship).

And it may be fine to "live and let live" when it comes to benign beliefs, but that has a way of securing a passage to the more malignant forms of supernatural belief. And when these irrational convictions take the form of legislation and warmongering (as in my country), that's when we start to have a problem.

I was merely stating my personal opinion. If you don't want to believe that ghosts exist until there is "proof" beyond what people claim they've seen that's up to you.
