Default Why does nothing ever work out for me?...
Ok, so I finally got the keys to the new place I'm renting for the next 8 months...

I walk in, and find someone else's **** in the room that was supposed to be mine.

Turns out, the rental lady reserved the WRONG room for me, thanks to miscommunication through e-mail. Now I'm stuck with a smaller room, with one less window.

Basically: I'm paying for a room I didn't want for the next 8 months. I doubt i can fit my stuff in it now.

This blows.

There's nothing that can be done. The lease is signed, and the rent is paid.

I took another look at the room and it's not that bad. I think may stuff just may fit. If it does, whatever...

If she quoted you the wrong room then there is something you can do about it. You can definitely call it a "bait and switch". If it was a bigger place and you're paying the same price then it's wrong.

When I read it I laughed really hard because I literally thought that there was a turd in the middle of the room.

Trick is to read that lease damn well before you sign in, next time around you will, maybe...

Randomly killing people in the area should reduce rents somewhat. You might find a penthouse apartment for peanuts if your killing spree is bloodthirsty enough to cause a statewide panic. Though if your wanted level gets to six stars the army will start hunting your ass, but then you can steal a tank so you're pretty much invincible.

Could be worse -
House next door had the previous occupants leave due to owing 7 weeks rent.
Landlord had cleaners in who took out 10 rubbish back of crap, an old couch and they were there for most of the day.
New occupant looked at the location, exterior of house etc and signed the lease - after all it had been cleaned, hadn't it.
I spoke to him a couple of days later and he was gutted - the house was still "DIRTY" - he was having to thoroughly clean the place out himself to get it to a standard to move in.

The previous occupants had only been there around 4 months!
