As*tro*no*mers say they’ve ap*par*ently found a gi*ant hole in the un*iverse—a prac*tic*ally emp*ty zone, called a void, whose gap*ing size is hard to ex*plain.
While past stud*ies had re*vealed oth*er voids, this one dwarfs them all, re*search*ers say, be*ing nearly a bil*lion light-years across. A light-year is the dis*tance light trav*els in a year, some six tril*lion miles or nine tril*lion km. There is almost nothing in that space, not even dark matter... links: http://www.world-science.net/othernews/070823_void.htm http://www.astronomy.com/asy/default.aspx?c=a&id=5916 ![]() |

This just makes me giggle. We think we know the nature of the universe when we can't even get to a neighboring planet. We think we know the origin of how things began and we can't even see or chart out the entire universe. We don't even know if there's life on other worlds (intelligent life).
The big gaping hole found in the universe is most likely one of many or it could be the only one. We're so small yet we continue to think our brains are so big and we know everything. |

We don't even know if there's life on other worlds (intelligent life). theres probably some aliens next to it that use it as a big garbage dump and think it's completely normal, infact it's probably their version of a landfill site. We know not alot tbh |

I agree with dcuk the most. But chris0288 has a nice idea too....[rofl]
Could be a massive black hole that connects to another dimension. And since we reside in the 4th dimension (but we can't "see" time), this can be a hole to the 5th dimension. Thus we see nothing. But then again it is so far away, and thus happened so long ago, near the time of the origin if the Big Bang....matter of fact it CAN be the original spot of the Big Bang ! Now my head is gonna implode... |
