Default Did you know...?
That a bullet fired from a 9mm Sig Sauer P229 would traver nearly 10 million kilometers in 8 years if it wasn't subject to gravity and air resistance and kept going at the original muzzle velocity?
That's 2/3 of the distance between Earth and Sun!

So rephrase it...

At original muzzle velocity, it would get to the Sun in about 72 years. Still kinda neat.

It's kinda funny to think that any spacecraft or a satellite would leave in the dust a bullet fired from a rifle. [yes]

Taken no air friction would exist, a V0 of 8.2km/s is needed to shoot an object to orbit the Earth. A typical V0 for a rifle bullet is around 700m/s.
