I thought it was great.

And as for "Oh, I was disappointed because character X barely appeared in it", well, there's just too many Simpsons characters for them to be able to satisfy everybody by including their favourite. I think it would have suffered if they spent time trying to just find a way to get every single character into the story somehow. They kept the cast lean and I think it was better for it. Was Tom Hanks the only outside celebrity in there? Good job I say.

I was "drug along" to it, and thought that it was going to be horrible, but I actually found myself laughing through most of the movie. I thougth the best line in the hole movie was when homer had a bible open and said " ooooh man this thing has no answers in it!!!" lol.

But since Im not a simpsons fanatic, watched the shows randomly, I had low expectations....I suppose for someone who had high expections, they would most likely be disapointed, as for me, it was a great hour or so of entertainment!!

Default The Simpsons Movie. Who's going to see it?
Ive followed the Simpsons since their first episode in 1989. Although I think over the past few years there new episodes have been everything BUT funny I can't wait to see the movie!

I'll be seeing the showing tomorrow at 11am before work. After following the show for 18 years theres no way I can pass up the movie no matter how much they have sucked lately. [thumbup]

If they've been saving up the comedy that's been lacking in the show, then it'll be fantastic, but somehow I just don't see that happening. I probably won't see it, but I do want to support the 2d animation

Going on Saturday with a few friends.
Making a bit of a night of it, few beers, movie then some more beers

I'm not expecting it to be fantastic, but I've been waiting for a long while for it so I must see it.

If it gets good reviews I'll go see it. I haven't really watched a new episode of the Simpson's in about 5 years.

here's some advice...
never trust when someone tells you NOT to do something.

Why not see it yourself and make up your own opinion of it.

Because it costs money. $10 for me.

if you're not comfortable paying $10 for some ~2 odd hours of entertainment, why bother seeing ANY movie?
I just think it's better to form your own opinion of a movie, rather than to have a pre-determined outlook, I.E. I heard this movie sucks, so when i go see it, I'm looking for it to suck.

I don't mind spending the money if the movie is worth the time. If the quality of The Simpson's Movie is anything like the quality of the show for the last 5 years, it's not worth $10.

Tbh I was really dissapointed by the trailers, seems like they've with the surreal in-your-face approach of newer TV series. This Empire review doesn't give in to the hype, and seems to give a level headed verdict.

I will of course judge for myself, but not wasting £6 at cinema for something I probably won't like.

I'm still surprised that they went with a PG-13 rating.

Anyways, I too wasn't impressed by the trailer(s) and I don't see what else they can do as they've done just about everything with the show possible. The only people that are going to think its really good and whatnot are going to be the fanatics or just because it's cool to say the movie was great.

I'm going to be seeing it with an open mind like I do with all movies, but I just can't see it being anything spectacular. I would have much rather had them continue to make the Futurama movie into a theatrical release instead of making it back into a show on FX (at least I think that's the station they're going with now).

Doubtful. I go to movies these days to see stuff like LOTR, Star Wars, and The Matrix. I don't think I'll miss out on anything by "only" seeing The Simpsons Movie in my living room.

I went to see it on Wednesday, advance screening at Odeon. Been a fan for 12-13 years,

I would rate it above average. Bit hyped up really. It starts and finishes well but seeps somewhere in the middle. It was funny at times, but for some reason there didn't seem to be as many jokes in it as a general episode usually does?

I don't remember seeing Apu, not even once.. He didn't play any part in the movie, nor did Barney. Mr Burns was in it for maybe 15 seconds. The Simpsons works well for me because of their interaction with the rest of the characters, it felt too focused on just those 5 simpsons for me.
