Default Do anyone shop at bestbuy anymore?
Is it just me or is best buy only for rich folks now?

hey i'm not rich, but i'm nearing it, however i am extremely cheap. Bestbuy products are high as hell. I was thinking about buying my video card from there, the geforce 5200 one and its 84 dollars haha. When you can find that same card for 44 bucks elsewhere.

And whats up with the VHS tape pack, 19.99 for 6. And there xbox games are also high.
Bestbuy sucks.

the only thing I buy at bestbuy is video games, movies and music. All of their electronics are extremely overpriced. (so is the media, but they have a semi-high selection)

I was thinking about getting a new car stereo there, the price wasn't much different than other places, and they said they have free installation, but they want $60 for parts to install it in my car. Crutchfield has the kit for the same price, and their install parts are $39 for my car, so it's like a $20 surcharge at bestbuy...

Best Buy is rather expensive. I see some of the prices they are charing for crappy video cards like FX5200 and older ones like the 9550 and just want to cry. The problem is that people still buy them.

Best buy scams people and i guess the people who buy those cards are people who dont know alot about computers.

Also, its even worse if you want to deal with the geek squad. They will charge you alot of money just to download some web drivers. I needed some web drivers couple months ago and they was trying to charge me 80 dollars, and they say its labor work. [rofl]

I'm thinking to myself, how is going into google, finding some drivers, and burning them onto a disc labor? Its not like i was asking to ship me out some brand new computers.

I pricematched at Best Buy to get my Sharp Aquos for $899 last December. That's about it. Their prices for media usually suck.

Only when price matching. My local Bestbuy is a lot closer than Fry's so I'll commonly take the weekly Fry's ad. It's great getting Bestbuy to sell me computer parts for half the shelf price.

Spite is an interesting thing.

why in the hell did you even bring your computer to us ??? you'd better technical help here than there...and free.

and actually I admit while we dont have good deals on absolutely everything, we do have some great deals, stuff on sale that is, like great deals on laptops, desktops, ram, hdd's, monitors, and maybe once and a while a couple gfx...look at our ad, and tell a 19'' wide is not good @ 130$ ??? and that a gateway laptop w/ 1gb/pdc/160gb hdd is not well priced at 500$ ??? not to mention ram, most weeks (this week is an exception) you can get 512mb of ddr2 for like 25$, and 1gb for like 45$....I mean common...there is no where in this planet where you go that has everything cheaper, thats why you shop around...you probably go to newegg for mobo/cpu/ram/gfx bur go somewhere else for cooling or psu ? its just how things are...why bash on the company...look at the actual ad...THERE actually are some good deals there...just gotta look for them...

They have some good deals, I actually went there tonight looking for a camera bag. The same bag would have cost quite a bit more at the local camera specialty shop. Some CD's a nicely priced too. But enthusiast/prosumer items are almost always too expensive. I always buy all my computer things online. They really aren't the forefront authority with graphics cards and memory, but that doesn't seem to be what they try to sell. It seems like TV's, DVD players, speaker systems, etc are their target sales. I snagged a 20 inch Magnavox from them for $89 and then got a progressive scan DVD player for $30.

Best Buy is only good for Price Matching. They charge way too much for stuff normally. If you can get a pricematch, they are awesome, as they will knock off 10% from the competitor's price.

also, the reason we arent as cheap, is because, of convenience, for example, most of us here can live with waiting 3-4 days to get our hardware, but imagine some person thats needs their computer up and running, if it could save their ass, to get their computer running in order to work, backup something, replace the gfx or whatever, thats what some people value... not saving like 20$ or whatever and wait like a week...anyhow heres a few things I highly doubt you could find at a better price anywhere really...and if so goes back to the point of convenience, you might find it 5$ cheaper...but really worth waiting a week for ? depends on the person...some people just like going in and out...

and also, if something aint working right, you can just exchange it...not wait another week, and btw, most weeks like I said we have ram (value, like kingston or corsair ddr2 667, but what ever, if you aint overclocking much) like 512mb for 25$ and 1gb sticks for 45$....

What? No they don't, I've pricematched dozens of video games and they've never once knocked 10% off for me.

Is there some kind of price floor to get that 10% thing, like it has to be over $100 or something?

Thier computer games and music cds is pretty cheap, and VCR/DVD sets. So bestbuy has some cheap stuff, you just have to look around. However, most of the stuff which i was looking for a while back was too high.

So overall i give best buy a 7 ratings. I dont buy stuff from bestbuy as much like i use too, but if i still buy thier pc games and music cds. [thumbup]

Great, so if I actually asked about it, the employees would think I'm insane? [rofl]
