Except if there's a public right of way.
You guys have alot of public walkways through enclosed livestock pens?

Theres nothing quite like sticking your foot in a steaming fresh cow patty.

I wouldn't describe a field with some cows in it as a "pen", unless it was very small.

There are lots of fields in this country with public footpaths or bridleways running through them. Some with sheep or cattle in them, some with crops.

Interesting. Over here there is generally quite a division between heavily inhabited areas and where livestock can be kept.
Probably because we have alot more room to keep them separate.

These fields aren't really in inhabited areas (i.e. they're outside of the town), they're in the middle of the countryside. They date from when people used to walk, or ride horses, between villages for work or to go to church etc. Some of these paths eventually got converted in to modern roads, but plenty are still just rough tracks or paths running through the countryside.

Also, some of the paths are extremely ancient and date back thousands of years.

It's a quite a popular hobby here to do walks or, where allowed, cycle along these paths. I do myself.

Actually..you shouldnt walk through any field that you dont own in the dark. Its called trespassing. maybe where you live but in the UK we have the "right to roam" and many farm lands have public paths going through them that have been used for hundreds of years.

farmers cant stop you using them
