Default High pings driving me crazy
Recently I've been getting massively fluctuating pings (mostly high), which is most obvious when trying to play games, where I rarely last 2 minutes before being kicked. I've tried running two different anti-spyware programs, two different antivirus, a connection optimiser, everything.

I am on a wireless connection, but have been for the last 2 years and it's been fine until now (with pings of 20-50ms usually). This is due to the router being on a high shelf just below my PC which is on my bedroom floor. 100% signal.

Sooo, any suggestions?

Open CMD prompt.

Do..

Ping (routers ip address) -t

Leave it for a few min and see if you get any high spikes...

Press CTRL + C when you want to stop.

All consistently -1.

When I do it with websites and stuff I get a massive spike every 6-10 seconds.

Thanks, I get this, no idea what any of it means though. Doesn't appear to be spikes.

core2-pos4-0.bletchley.ukcore.bt.net is your problem.

Complain to your isp...

But if your isp is BT then it will be india you speak to. Which is about as usefull as a blow up dart board and a chocolate teapot.

Ooooh NOOOOO.

I just finished sorting out a torturous month-long fiasco with them where my download speeds would dip to 56k. I swear they have Indian call centres just to deter people from complaining. You just go in circles as neither can understand what the others saying, and they always have to go through the same routine every ****ing time you phone. And I'm in a 18 ****ing month contract with the bastards.

God I hate BT.

Edit- Also the only way it finally worked out was their automated connection thing eventually uncapped my connection, returning it to normal speed. Whoever I talked to insisted there was nothing they could do to change it. So looks like I'm ****ed with this too, and just have to wait it out.

Horrorwood, I just ran that test again, and it's not that server. I got two more spikes in different places, one at 217.41.175.54 and one at jolt pipex line. What's that mean?
