Default Moscow retains title as world’s costliest city
WTF, are those Russians that rich?

Rising ruble makes Russian capital far more expensive than New York.

Moscow is the world’s most expensive city for the second year in a row, thanks to an appreciating ruble and rising housing costs, a new survey reports.

The cost of living for expatriates in the Russian capital is nearly 35 percent higher than in New York, which served as the base city for the survey released Monday.

London, estimated at 26 percent more expensive than New York, climbed three spots to second place on a strengthening British pound and steep rental prices. full article here

The survey is based on the costs of the business traveller. What does it mean? A foreigner is legally robbed in Moscow.

Compared to the economical status and the income level against the local inhabitant, no. The costs for the traveller in cities like Moscow, St. Petersburg and Beijing are out of proportion and not acquired by normal means of supply and demand.

If you know what I mean.

Its crazy really.

Russians think that the more expensive something is, the better it is.

In USA, you can find better stuff for WAY less.

No, I think, rather, that there is a huge number of very, very poor people there. For various reasons, I consider Russia to be one of the most depressing places on earth.

Hmm... You sound like you've been there. Moscow is not too depressing, along with St. Petersburg, but the rest of Russia really is depressing. People are very angry all the time, I hear that if you're a Russian American and you go back there you stand out so much because of your 'laxed attitude. My auntie lives in Russia, atm, and she bought an apartment there in a good neighborhood a year or so ago, so I am happy for her investment.
