Default Sharp Introduces 1,000,000:1 Contrast Ratio LCD
Holy crap, look at the difference compared to a normal 1,200:1 ratio. [shocked]

BS, how do we know the other set doesnt have its contrast/brightness/backlight turned right up?

I've seen plenty HDTV's that do black just as well as the set on the right and only cheapo nasty £100 ones that look like the one on the left.

Too right.

No way in HELL the screen's blacks would blend in with the environment. Sure it could come close, but still you'd have to see the screen borders seperate from the wall and screen.

This picture has been screwed with period. (also they probably used a 10 year old LCD to compare with)

Actually I've seen the 1,000,000:1 LCD in person, it's very impressive. I am not sure if the LCD in those particular screenshots screwed with, but the the other LCD is 100% right from what I have seen with my eyes.

Isn't this like LG's 3000:1 [rolleyes] ratios but in another form of test designed to create even higher numbers?

What is the measured black value? That pretty much is a standard in most LCD tests.
