Default It's official... Subforums are dead/dying
Since the new change, I've noticed a huge decrease in posts in the general art forum and other sub forums. I can't even get any SLR advice anymore. [thumbdown]

I totally agree. I noticed I haven't been going to a lot of the sections I used to because they aren't as accessible.

Yep, I used to visit the general art section everyday, and now I haven't been there sense the new layout change. Just have forgotten about them.

I guess it’s because the new name means people at work cannot post on the forms any more as it’s now blocked.

def not that, maybe a little. I use to browse Gen art etc alot and now I just simply forget them. I made a post about FM having their fun and now its time to remove them. I knew it was a bad idea from day 1. Get rid of it now, fix it please. If not for the users sake, atleast for the forums sake. [thumbdown]

I don't get it. How on earth are they harder to find? They're right there on the main page [rolleyes] I seem to manage.

Well, if it's not a 3dmark support forum it's not making money! Us 'blah blah' molluscs are just leeching bandwidth.

I'm sure they'll make it back in time, really.

I hate the new forums and I'm pissed I can't access them from work because of the stupid "yougamers". I browsed these forums several times a day. Now I check them once a week at most ...

I don't mind the subforums. Either way is fine with me.

Call up your tech support department and ask them to unlock it - it cant hurt to try, but we can't help what policies your company has.

For me it's just because I reflexively have a pattern of how I click on links on here. I don't even think about doing it.

With the subforums 'hidden' so to speak I always forget to reflexively click on them.

How are they hidden?.. They're in full view along with all the other links.

I don't get what the big change/problem is.

Agreed 100% -- I don't see the problem. The subforum links are directly under the links for the main board... you can't miss them. Yeah, they're a tiny bit smaller, but if you really have an interest in posting in a subforum, you'd find and click on the smaller link. IMO if you "forget" about posting in a subforum, it's not the fault of FM, but the fault of the user. If you forget, you probably never had the interest in the first place.

Also, and this is my speculation, the subforums aren't going anywhere anytime soon. It's not a joke, it's not FM having a bit of fun, this is the new layout.

So yeah, all this whining seems unfounded to me. Take the extra effort to look over your screen for an extra few seconds, move your mouse a few extra pixels, and click on the subforum link. It's right there.

Phew, rant over. [rofl]

I guess all we're saying is any way you look at it, it's less convenient. Whether it's less convenient by an itsy bitsy little bit or not doesn't matter. Even if it's a few pixels or a few extra seconds.

I thought the new forum was made to improve the old one in every way. Most find the subforums passable, some don't like them at all, and very few seem to actually see them as an improvement. I don't get why they need to stay.

That's just me, I guess.

Although if we had every forum as a main forum, people would also moan that the forum list is too long.

The forum layout is still being worked on/tweaked and this isnt the final article - but we wont and cant please everyone; its the same for every change - we just cant keep everyone happy unfortunately.
