Which do people think is faster 20Mb cable or 24Mb ADSL2+ assuming you are 1km from the exchange as the crow flies?

Cable will be way faster, cable only really suffers from congestion, not cable lengths as such.

usenet/newsgroups is the only real method of utilizing 20mb broadband. it just a shame that the upload on virgin is only 768KB/s when you have 20000KB/s download.

Default 20mb Broadband FTW!
Woot, just got my free upgrade to 20mb broadband with Virgin ( i signed up on a special deal, so the increased price does not affect me )

Holy crap it is fast, trouble is finding good sites that can max out my speeds on a consitent basis. I of course have a fileplanet subscription, which is good for "most" demos. Anything I can use to test it out?

Wow, that's a really high speed. I don't think I've ever seen the actual numbers match up to the advertised speed so closely before.

Anyhoo: newsgroups.

Yeah its good, trouble is microsoft for example is running stupidly slow like 100kb/s But I try ftp sites and they are fine. I did have a go at ATI and was pretty good ranging from 10mb up to 20mb, averaging around 1.4mb/s.
