Default What the hell is wrong with people atm?
Royal mail - Item delivered last week (5 working days) The signiture SHOULD be up at a MAXIMUM of 5 working days after delivery. This has not happened.
Scan - Item was delivered in the bolton area, it is unlikely the parcel went to the wrong place since scan will get a lot of post. Its been 5 working days and NOW they are looking for my return on the SECOND time I called them.
Google - Charge me £245 through what looks like somebody eleses account meaning to be sure I have to deactivate my account.

Why the hell am I getting total incompetence with every business dealing atm? [cursing]

It's not just you mate... I needed to RMA my 7900GTX. Took me 4 weeks and 10 messages to actually get my RMA number. Just now I found out that they did find my card to be faulty, but they're gonna send me a 7950GT as a replacement[cursing]

I told them to basically suck my balls and now they say they don't know how long it's going to take for them to find me another 7900GTX, leaving me without a graphics card for 2 weeks and counting now.

Hmph. If they don't have an equivalent card, they shouldn't have even offered you an inferior card -- they should offer a superior model. You ought to get an 8800GTS 320MB at least.

Sounds like a nightmare.

By law they have to (in the UK at least) give you a full refund OR replace it with the SAME or SUPERIOR model, they get to choose either of these, but if they cant find a replacement in a reasonable time, then they have to give you a refund.

The longest they are allowed to take is 3 months [thumbdown] But that is from the time you reported it I think.

Yeah I'm trying to get them to send me a card that has at least the same, if not better performance, but each time I message them I have to wait an average of 2 or 3 days to get a reply... so I haven't got a response yet.

Do you know where this law is stated? They said they can't offer monetary refunds before I sent in the card, but if it's the law then maybe I can use that against them.

This is through XFX directly. The card is from OCUK, who are infamous for their (lack of) customer support, so that's why I decided to RMA through XFX. Looks like they're not much better though...[no]

btw, thanks for all the help [thumbup]

My advice would be to give your Local Trading Standards a ring - They're usually pretty helpful and they can tell you exactly what you're entitled to and what you're not.

Cool. I'll do that if I feel that no progress is being made. (thanks for the contact details!)

They tried to be really sneaky about the replacement too... by just quoting internal part numbers rather than telling me which card they were going to use as the replacement.

I quote:
Your returns ref: XCR1262 has recently completed testing with the following actions: {H4H229126 REPLACE with PV-T71J-YHE4 IEB100153}. How sly is that? [thumbdown] Anyone who didn't know much about computer hardware (or bothered to google it up) would have had their flagship card replaced with a mediocre one that's slower and £100 cheaper.

Don't understand why people keep buying from OCuk. I have heard nothing but bad about them and people still keep them in business?

They're telling you they won't give refunds for faulty products? That's very naughty. As has been previously stated the law is if you purchase something and it's faulty you are entitled either a replacement or a refund. I can find a link atm.

Here's a link to a Trading Standards page about your rights when you purchase goods.

I didn't mention that the card is 6 months old. It has had problems since the start but there's no way for me to prove that. It's still under the 1 year warranty from XFX, so I can get a replacement, but I'm not sure whether a refund is still covered by law.

EDIT: Sorry for hijacking this thread, but I guess it's within the subject matter, sort of :P

Well, XFX still has my card, which I sent 3 weeks ago. They still can't find a suitable replacement, and are still trying to offer me the 7950GT for my 7900GTX [no]

Can't find a suitable replacement? The suitable replacement is a 320MB 8800GTS, period.

I suggested that to them twice now, but they just seem to ignore what I said. I also said that I'm willing to accept their 7950GT XXX version, which is only clocked 40MHz (core) slower than the GTX. They said they don't have any available...

Problem is, they say they're under no obligation to replace cards for end users, only for resellers, and they are only offering this RMA as a courtesy service, so I don't know if there's anything more I can do other than what I've done already.
