Although if we had every forum as a main forum, people would also moan that the forum list is too long.

The forum layout is still being worked on/tweaked and this isnt the final article - but we wont and cant please everyone; its the same for every change - we just cant keep everyone happy unfortunately.

I wouldn't.

I don't think that would work, the indexing would get all crazy.

I have to say that I don't mind the way the forum is at the moment obviously some people have an issue with it and some forums are less active since the change some are more active and these issues are being analyzed. I will guess that we will end up with a slightly different layout but I can assure you that sub-forums are here to stay. We need to find some middle ground here.

IMO, ever since the forms changed last (the entire layout/server change) FM seems to be quieting down. Less traffic and less postage.

Then with YouGamers it went down even further, and has DROPPED dramatically with the futuremark.yougamers.com change.

WFT is getting into FM? Are you guys starting to take drugs or something? This is a forum about benchmarking, overclocking, and modding, not about gaming. There was little gaming going on in this place anyway, and yougamers was dead quiet. Now you bring in a dead yougamers to a small minority gaming community here, wtf are you guys smoking? That is what Gamespot and IGN are for! Plus it seems like the benchmarking, overlclocking and modding part of this forum is dying away.

Also, imo, the new website as a whole looks way less professional. It looks like very other vBulletin website out there. The old FM looked professional and unique which is hard to come by in a forum.

All I can think of is that you guys are done with 3dmark and are now pushing games on us. I think that it would be better off with FM doing their own PC gaming benchmark testing, and possibly making the first game for benchmarking purposes only. Plus come out with a few games using the 3dmark engines. [thumbup]
Plus you could always license your engines and give some of the profit to fellow FM members!!! [thumbup]

I take it you have access to the website statistics to prove your point? Or are you basing your statement on a "feel-of-my-pants" thing? It's easy to claim something based on a feeling, especially when changes move things around, making it harder to compare the new with the old. For example, people seem to think that the MO boards were much busier than the FM ones, which isn't the case - take 3DMark releases: they've generated more posts, threads, traffic, downloads, etc with each launch.

WFT is getting into FM? Are you guys starting to take drugs or something? Hell yeah - 15 lines of charlie for me, every day!

This is a forum about benchmarking, overclocking, and modding, not about gaming. There was little gaming going on in this place anyway.. Bzzzt - wrong. Gaming discussions here, right from the early days, have been very popular. Sure some people buy the latest hardware just for benchmarking purposes but the majority actually buy RadeforceX83948GTSZZ graphics cards so that their games look and play better. If 3D gaming didn't exist, neither would Futuremark.

...and yougamers was dead quiet. It was rather new, what do you expect?

Now you bring in a dead yougamers to a small minority gaming community here, wtf are you guys smoking? That is what Gamespot and IGN are for! GS and IGN don't hardware analyse games and tell you what they will look and play like across the range of hardware configurations; GS and IGN don't provide tools for you to check your machine against a game's requirements and provide an accurate report on how much faster your machine is against those; GS and IGN don't provide 3000+ in-depth reports on games which people will play for months on end - in other words, we're covering what they don't, simple as that.

Also, imo, the new website as a whole looks way less professional. It looks like very other vBulletin website out there. The old FM looked professional and unique which is hard to come by in a forum. vBulletin gives one considerably more tools, features, security, speed, stability than wwwthreads - the move was a no-brainer. And for somebody who's obviously hated the look of the forum since that change, you've done an awful lot of visiting and posting here since that time!

All I can think of is that you guys are done with 3dmark and are now pushing games on us 3DMark is definitely not being dumped - have you not kept up with all the "Next 3DMark" info and thread? Besides, and I'm repeating myself here yet again, historically Futuremark has always had a "gaming section" to their site. Back in 2001, it was called gamershq.madonion.com and featured reviews (by moi), news, competitions and so on. We couldn't give it the full resources that it needed and so it dropped down to just being news for a long time (hero of the decade = Joe). Now with the resources and tools available to do it properly, YouGamers exists as what we intended GamersHQ to be.

I think that it would be better off with FM doing their own PC gaming benchmark testing, and possibly making the first game for benchmarking purposes only. Plus come out with a few games using the 3dmark engines. [thumbup] Who knows what the future holds - brainstorming meetings here tend to be pretty cool; lots of great ideas get generated but there's always the same question to answer them: "can we do it"? I think we should make boardgame benchmarks! "My monopoly scores 120,000 boardmarks" [yes]

Go where? maybe change them to a direct link on the main page.. oh hang on, they are.

I remember people crying over the changes every single time something was different. People adapt..

Wah wah wah....

There is no difference between the forum of a month ago and today, except that its condensed and "cleaned up" if you are too lazy/not smart enough to figure out how to get to different threads then stop crying about it.

This forum is for the futuremark company to assist with help on its products, and they are nice enough to provide a community for us "enthusiasts" to chat about everything else, but just as it was at the begining, it is now.

I cant believe people are acting like such babies about this....its embarasing for all onions.

Says the guy who's been an "onion" for one month.

I agree with some of what you say though, there is too much whining going on. I personally prefer it the way it was but if it's going to stay like this it's no biggie either.

Arent accessible? Get a grip, theres the mini links on the main page and if thats toooo hard for you, then the sub forums can be found in the most visited forums and at the top too for easy access.

God some people dont half p!ss and moan alot. [rolleyes]

What I fail to understand is that almost everyone agrees that the subforums are a bad idea but they are still being used. Why? Isn't it obvious that most people like the other way? Seems like only the mods and admins like it the way it is, but isn't the site supposed to cater to the users?

I hate not being able to see what the last post in one of the subforums were, they are just UGH. I lose sleep over it. call me a nerd, call me a loser, call me whatever you want, the fact remains is in my heart I am a onion and I could care less for these "Sub forums" disgusting idea.

I think perhaps that the people high up think that we're complaining about all subforums. I think it's just a particular few subforums, such as the Blah Blah ones, we'd rather see back on the front page in full glory.

Why not make it expandable with a click of a button so it shows both ways? This really irritates to no other why they would make such a foolish decision. Such a decsision only the likes of Sony Gaming department would make [thumbdown]
