Default Intense pain in my left leg...
I have no idea what's causing it, but here's the symptoms:

Every time I sit down for a while, then try to stand up, I get intense pain starting from my lower back all the way down to my knee cap on my left leg. Same thing happens when I'm standing and attempt to sit down again -- it hurts like crazy when I'm halfway between the sitting/standing position.

Also, if I lie down flat on the ground and try to do a sit-up -- no way. I can get maybe six inches off the ground before I get the same intense pain in my left leg, and sometimes this pain is even worse than when sitting or standing. The thing is, if I'm standing, I can stretch my left leg and bring it all the way flat up against my body without pain...

It takes 1200mg of Ibuprofen to stop the pain completely, and I would need to take that much 2-3 times a day (which I don't do as it's quite an overdose, apparently).

Sounds like a trapped nerve or maybe even a torn muscle.

But get yourself along to your Doctor to make sure.

Yeah, exactly... why shouldn't I ask while I'm sitting here unable to see the doctor? Besides, if some of you give good suggestions, maybe I'll have something to say to the doctor if/when I finally go.

I should also add it's been going on for two weeks or so now, off and on. Some days bad, others not so much, but today is right out horrible.

It's starting to hurt when I walk normally.

3200mg of Ibuprofen is the MAX daily limit before it starts doing serious damage to your stomach. i.e. stomach ulcers.

If I've got it pretty bad, I take usually between 1200mg-1600mg.

And to me, it sounds like sciatic nerve pinching.

Seconded. Sounds like a nerve cramp, or whatever it is in English Proper. I know only that it does bloody hurt. We can't help.

Yeah, that's what my dad said.

Anyway, 3200mg? That's *way* higher than the max dosage listed on the bottle.

Yes, I was told by a pharmacist that 3200mg is the max before damage starts to occur.

It might be a pinched nerve. My mom had a pinched nerve in her lower back that caused her right upper leg to hurt like hell. She got to the point where she could barely drive. Couldn't stand sitting and it hurt her to even press down on the gas petal. Had surgery on her back, and it fixed the problem.

Go see a Doc and see what he suggests. My moms problem only go worse and it took her a while her self to go see a doc. Maybe if you go see one down, some daily stretching and massaging will help ease the pain and get ride of it all together before surgery is required.

My dad had sciatic nerve problems and the doctors told him there was nothing that could be done other than taking pills and stretching it. I have a feeling that might be my case as well.

Is it good to rest the leg, stay away from intense exercise?

I have had some pretty bad sciatic nerve problems. If you can even consider exercise it isn't that bad. when it gets really bad you will be begging your doc for some hillbilly heroin and have to crawl to the bathroom.

Yeah, his was that bad. Still, both of my jobs require me to do a lot of squatting, stretching, and I'm constantly on my feet. I can walk, but I'm really slow.

Would it be good to take time off and rest it or keep at it and hope the deep knee bends will help?

It should be checked by a doc. They will do an MRI to determine what is causing it. Mine is from degenerative disc disease. If you are able to work, I wouldn't take off. If it gets bad you will lose even more time.

Here are some exercises you can try.
