Default Which new Digital Camera for £200ish
Hi all, Im looking at getting a new digi cam when i get paid at the end of the month but I am totally out of my depth with the amount that are on the market. I will be spending around £200 and for my money want something that has a decent optical zoom lense as I intend to be trying to take wildlife photo's.

So far I am looking at:

Fuji S5700
Panasonic Lumix DMC-Fz8EF
Panasonic Lumix DMC-TZ3
Fuji Finepx S9600

Out of these which do you think would meet my needs the best or are there any more on the market which you would reccomend for around the same kind of price?

Thankyou for any help it is appreciated

I'd grab the Lumix DMC-Fz8EF

Could also take a look @ the Canon Powershot S3 IS which can be had for around £200'ish if you look hard...

http://www.camerabox.co.uk/product.asp?ProductID=1031 but compared to the rest feature wise its probably not as good a buy.

How about the Fuji Finepx S9600?

It seems to have better specs?

I don't really like the Lumix's they have this horrible OTT noise reduction that turns your photo into a water color! I'd probably go with the S9600 a nice camera with plenty of, ah what the hell do you call it? You know aperture control modes and stuff like that.

Looks like a good camera but only has an optical zoom of 5x which I dont think would be enough for my needs. At the moment the Fuji S9600 and Lumix FZ8 are the 2 im considering. I always wanted to get a Cannon EOS DSLR but they are just too pricey

Easy, Fuji s6500fd [thumbup]

Added: if you can spend a bit more you can get a pentax *ist dl/dl2 or pentax k100d/k110d. Great cameras! Don't be fooled by high megapixels!

I'd prefer a better lense than a further zoom.

After having a good look around I think the one that stands out is the Fuji S6500FD or S6000FD I think its called in the US. djorgji pointed it out earlier and it looks like a winner but I noticed it does not have any image stablization on it... is this a big loss or would i still be able to take good close pictures using the lense wothout getting a blurred picture?

Cheers for any help

It seems to say it does have stablizer mode in the specs...

However, what are its advantages over the S9600? The 9600 seems to be a superior model

Yes, Image Stabization is over hyped if you ask me. We took pictures without it for years, I still am! Sure there are low light occasions where you might get benefits from it and with those superzooms if you aren't going to bother with a tripod it's going to help but just watch your shutter speed and you should have no problems.
