Yes, I was told by a pharmacist that 3200mg is the max before damage starts to occur. I was on two SR doses a day, 1200mg (2x600mg) and after 2 months, I started getting real bad indegestion and heartburn, now I can't even take a single aspirin tablet without being crippled by pain. I'm stuck on paracetamol and codeine, with an occasional Zydol day. |

Then why did you reply in the first place? If you don't have anything useful to say, don't say anything at all.
You have a right to think it's a stupid thread, but don't come in and crap on it. And yeah, I took offense at that, so I edited it. Joke or not, something about it really ticked me off. And I doubt everyone is thinking the same thing, but if they are, they should let me know. |

Well, if the pain in your leg bothers you that much, here's a suggestion. . .
Get yourself bloody pissed. . . Find a cinder block. . . Punch it as hard as possible. Your leg won't hurt anymore. [thumbup] I'd just ignore it. . .it'll go away sooner or later. I hate going to the doctor and being a crybaby in the first place. |

Like people said it's a pinched nerve in your back. I had similar pains once, lasted for about a year. My pains were from the balls area to the lower back and all the way to my eyes (I couldn't look up). The pain would be so bad sometimes when I bent down that I would have an immediate gag reflex and throw up a little. I went to doctors and got x-rays, fortunately there was nothing wrong with my spine, just a pinched nerve. The doctors gave me painkillers --- fun, and told me to stretch.
The reason why I got the pinched nerve was from a day when I had to move 120-140 cinder blocks up and down stairs into the basement where the ceiling was 5'10". Me being 6'3" and carrying those blocks all day long 2 at a time by hand, having to bend my neck all the time probably did it. My advice to you is do something like beginner's yoga. The pain will fully go away in a year or so. |

Yeah, that's great advice. [rolleyes] Here's an idea. . .god forbid someone let an ailment run it's course. I had a similar issue that dropped me to my knees. Oh, guess what? Went to a doctor "THere's nothing we can do, but here's some medicine so you can ignore the pain." Yeah, wonderful. Tossed that **** Vicodin and learned to live with the pain. Eventually it worked itself out. My advice to you is do something like beginner's yoga. The pain will fully go away in a year or so. Probably some of the best advice I've heard. I can't stand people whining and saying "Go to the doctor." "I have a runny nose!!! Help me, doctor!" "My **** smells funny!! Help me, doctor!" "My wife thinks I have a small dick! Help doc!" Some day, people will learn doctors aren't the quick cure for everything. Maybe, just maybe, someone might have to get off their ass and work some kinks out so their body can fix itself. |

Because doctors in the USofA have a tendency to throw medication at everything under the sun instead of trying to figure out what the issue is? Like I said, you don't know what's wrong with him. It might be what people here have suggested, on the other hand it might not be. The only way he's going to find out for sure is to go and visit his doctor. |

Well, ARC, don't get me wrong. It depends on the pain-level, I couldn't get out of bed or stand up from a chair without experiencing extreme pain. If the pain is really bad I think that he should get an x-ray to check if all his discs in his spine are aligned correctly, if they are then that's the end of doctors visits. If the pain is semi-tolerable and does not cause you too much concern then forget about doctors.
Oh, and if you involuntarily lose your bowels that's the time to call 911. That means that there is something wrong with your spine and you will become paralyzed from the waist down if something is not done quickly. |

because you had a bad experience once don't mean all doctors are the same ... There's a time for medicine and a time for not. When you've exhausted all options that don't require bothering a doctor, then go. It's a known fact we live in an over-medicated world. People go in for the common flu and get prescribed anti-biotics. Why again? They don't do **** against a virus. But they're still prescribed anyway. People go in for a minor ache and pain, and get given god-damned oxycotin. . .and then we wonder why the hell the ****'s available on the street so readily and people get so addicted to the ****. . .maybe if doctors would stop handing out medicine like candy, we wouldn't have such low pain tolerances and drug-resistant strains of diseases. Oh, and if you involuntarily lose your bowels that's the time to call 911. That means that there is something wrong with your spine and you will become paralyzed from the waist down if something is not done quickly. Now see, that's just common sense. . .when you loose control of bodily functions, THAT'S something to run to the doctor about. |
