If you are travelling at ~ constant velocity then the time intervals you consider when you travel half the distance to the wall each time, will be decreasing. There is nothing strange going on here...
But d=v*t. So if you are travelling at a constant velocity, if the distance halfs the time taken to travel that distance will half, like you said. But since the distance is always finite (half of a number is still a real number), the time will always be finite. So it will always take you a finite amount of time to travel to the half way point of each step.

The time taken to get to the end is just the sum of the time taken to travel each half distance step right? But surely if the time taken is always finite on each step, the sum of a set of finite times over the infinite steps would be infinite. (it takes infinite steps like with the frog problem).

However, there is a physics explanation for why we do get to where we want to go. It's to do with the fact that at certain time periods and certain lengths something else takes over...
